Pros: I have ordered around 15 of these for customers over the past few months, and so far all of them have worked great, with the only complaint being that it comes with windows 8, but you can't fault the computer for that.
Overall Review: Know what you're buying, this is great for web browsing and email, but not for gaming, even some facebook games can cause it to slow down some, but for the price, and what you get its a good deal.
Pros: +Nice office laptop
+Good laptop cooling
+Large 17 inch Screen
+4 hour battery
+Sturdy build quality
+Sleek looking design
Cons: +Fingerprint magnet
+Mouse button feels loose
+A lot of plastic parts
+Depends on person (Windows 8)
Overall Review: Great starter computer. Can run some small games like Source games, League of Legends, and 2D games in medium to low settings. It is however limited to graphics due to integrated graphics. Good office computer can run some visual products ,again limited to being an integrated graphics card. I do not regret this purchase as me and my family love to watch movies on a large screen like this. Great computer for this price.
Pros: I got this laptop for my mom who wanted her own computer. It works great for the basic things that she needs to do like email, web, word processing and watching videos.
Of note, this comes with windows 8. So to upgrade to8.1, you need Windows updates, KB 2871389 and KB 2917499, before Windows 8.1 becomes available to you in the Store.
After that there can be a big hurdle that will frustrate you for hours as it did me.
The solution I found was on a dell forum. Basically what you need to do, is ensure that the wireless is turned OFF. Use only a hard line connection for updates.
Once you get updates, and then 8.1 downloaded, remove the hardline connection. For some reason, when installing 8.1 it tries to go out and download another update for the WiFi that will stall out your installation of 8.1. You will get to a screen that will only load to I think it was 21% and then go totally black, still back lit, but black and nothing will happen. Your only solution is a system restore back to original 8.
Hopefully that helps, it took me almost a day to get that but ever since, has worked perfect for it's purpose.
Cons: Not a touch screen, but for the price, can't complain. Getting windows 8.1 to install was a bit tricky.
Pros: Works Good!
Cons: Getting message that the battery that originally came with the laptop is not a genuine Lenovo battery. Laptop refuses to charge the battery, after almost one year.
Pros: Giant 17.3" HD monitor, Windows 8 already installed, aesthetically pleasing, capable of disabling mousepad so that you can use your own mouse.
Cons: I have no clue of how to open up the bottom of the laptop to install more memory or to swap out the hard drive. There are no individual compartments to open. It really needs 8GB of memory to maximize performance.
Overall Review: I bought this laptop because of the 17.3" screen size and the affordable price so that I could do my homework for school online. My dad and my brother both own the 15.6" version, which is technically the same computer but it has a smaller screen. They both love their laptops, so I had a trusted source to help in my decision to purchase. Lenovo purchased IBM so I knew that it was a quality product, replacing the ThinkPad series. This is the best purchase that I have made in the past several months. I really love this laptop, price, performance, and screen size!
Overall Review: A computer that supposedly has this much power should not take forever to load. Windows 8 is a horrible platform. There is just nothing nice I can say about this computer.
Pros: decent build quality
runs windows 7
Overall Review: top notch budget system for the grandma crowd
