Can this product be used with a cell phone or cordless phone, to have a hands-free private phone conversation?

Yes!  I actually prefer this headset to a blue tooth one for cell phone calls.   Mic is good.  Have not tested on cordless, but if they use same plug as cell phone then yes.   I also purchased a separate splitter to use on computer skype and google calls.   You can also get a USB to audio for low cost if you don't have jacks on your pc.
