I am not a tech person. Is this like a standard hard drive that spins or solid state no movable parts?

I believe this unit is "like a standard hard drive that spins," as you say. SSD ( solid state drives) are clearly marked as such and are usually more expensive than standard drives.

All USB 3.0 devices are backwards-compatible with USB 2.0. The plug is the same.

Also, since you're plugging it into a USB 2.0 port, it will operate at 2.0 speeds.

According to Google, an HP2130m is an LCD monitor, not a PC, but this hard drive does come with a USB cable that will correctly connect it to almost any PC.  I've owned this same drive for 7 months now and it works great.

Is 4tb version USB 2.0 compatible?

Yes.  Most USB 3.0 devices are backward compatable.  Although if you won't be using 3.0 you might want to look for a 2.0 device.  Might be cheaper.

Will it work with a USB 2.0 interface?

Yes it will. I use mine on a USB 2.0 port OK.
 (USB 3.0 is back-compatible with USB 1.0 and 2.0 btw - the only difference you see will be the file transfer speed - which on your 2.0 system will be the published 2.0 standard).

When you open this up, is this a single 4tb drive or 2 drives in a raid? I have a feeling its 2 drives but, if its a single drive its a great price on a 4tb internal drive

It is a single drive.  I have had this external hard drive for a little while and am generally satisfied with it.  The only drawback is it occasionally turns itself off when it's been idling for several hours.  So you have to unplug power cord, replug it and everything works fine.

Question 7

How does this drive come formatted?  What file system does it come preformatted with (ntfs, fat16, fat32,ext2/3/4)?

Hi Dean, The drive is unformatted for maximum flexibility for the end user. You will have to format the drive yourself, but it only takes a few minutes, and the utilities to do so are built into Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.  New egg will not allow me to insert links, but a web search will show you how. (Something like "how to format a drive in Windows 7.") Best of luck!

I've got Windows 8 so not sure......yes it is, I just looked on the box.... Be aware that this is really just a Seagate product thou, so if you don't like Seagate products think before buying. I just lost a ton of old tv shows on my Seagate Goflex harddrive. and didn't know this Samsung hard drive was made by Seagate until I received it last week, price was fantastic so I'm hoping this one will work better....fingers crossed.....
