How many drives are inside this, just one 6TB drive or two 3TB drives?

Accepted Answer

There is only one drive @ 6TB, however you can always partition any drive if you want. Very happy with this D3 Station.

Question 2

What's the part number of the drive inside these?  I'm trying to ask seagate (who actually manufactures these) but I'm not getting anywhere.

I do not know the model number but I looked online. I found the following at the Seagate site:

Model Number: STSHX-D601TDB
Part Number: HX-D601TDB/G

Hope that helps. And as far as Seagate, the fact that you got them to answer the telephone makes you ahead of a lot of people. I had a problem with their backup software and got no where talking to them. Their backup software is as useless as their customer support.

Question 4

There is something small rattling around inside the casing.  Sounds like a screw or tiny piece of metal.  Anyone have this issue?  It looks like its ok, it is recognized and used it some, but its still annoying.  Should I return it?

It should not rattle.  Mine does not.  There are screws that hold the drive to the container that may be loose.  That could make it fall off eventually damaging the drive.  I would return it before I put much data on it.
