Is the cord detachable from the headphone?

Looking at it and pulling lightly on the plug, I do not believe it is. It exits the left earpiece through a slim, short collar that appears to have grip edges on both the inside and outside.

Is it comfortable? (and if you have had any other headphones can you compare the comfort)

The answer is obviously subjective due to the difference in the sizes/shapes of heads/ears, that sort of thing, but I will say they fit tightly around my ears. They're also very "sealed" in that there is very little air circulation over the ears, leading to sweaty ears in a warm room, but they are comfortable to wear for multiple hours. I have a pair of Astro A40s as well, and they're both comfortable - the Astros don't clamp down on my head as firmly, and they're better ventilated, but the Sennheiser 280s are fine headphones and very comfortable.

Do these headphones leak a lot? they look nice but i want to make sure they don't leak.

I bought these for my wife who likes to crank the volume loud enough that she feels the need to almost shout while they are on.  Listening to music or watching movies,  I've never heard any leakage from these.  I do, however, hear a few notes from time to time when she uses these to play the piano.  Given the volume she uses at times I'd say that the leakage is quite minimal.

do any sennheiser headsets have microphones????  No in site depict microphone or mention in specifications!!!

My only concern is the folding.  I have had other folding/collapsible headphones in the past, and after some time the earphone on the opposite side of the cord tends to go out.  Has anyone had any issues with cord damage? Is there a way to sort of lock them open?

I also am not a huge fan of the folding but I haven't had any functionality problems with them, so far. They don't have any sort of mechanism to hold them open either, besides your head between them. As far as cord damage, the section near the ear piece is a bit more enforced and seems to hold out pretty well.

You're definitely paying for the name with beats. Having listened to both, the studio beats have a bit more bass response than the 280s, but the overall sound is much cleaner on the 280s.

Im looking for a new pair of headphones for my pc would you say these are good for gaming and music?

Absolutely.  Been using these for a year now and they are still like new.  Best bang for the buck on Newegg.  More than enough sensitivity and  excellent deep sound overall.  My Beats By Dre lasted about 4-5 months before they hit the garbage can.  Plenty of adjustability on the headgear and the extended cable makes easy work if you have to stand up or move over to retrieve something close by.   The ear pieces cover you ear completely and confortably,,which is huge when you want to hear something correctly and have deep rich sound for music.

Do you think these top the M40x's? Well, probably, since you bought them but can you give me any reasons why you think they are better?

I can't speak on the quality of the M40x's as I've never tried them, but I like the HD280s enough to have bought a second pair after I wore my first one out. They're good at keeping sound from coming in and leaking out; they need to be pretty loud for others to be able to decipher what you're listening to.

One downside is they are pretty tight, so if you kept them on all day you might end up with a headache.
