SilverStone Sugo Series SG05W-LITE Computer Case

Introduced in 2009, the Sugo SG05 was a revelation for a form factor originally destined for low-powered computing. Designed for use with Mini-DTX and Mini-ITX motherboards, the SG05 was capable of swallowing many standard components while keeping everything cooled. It was the first Mini-ITX case in its size class equipped with a 120mm fan and capable of accommodating 10in. graphics cards. This breakthrough design allowed anyone to build a fast and affordable PC in a case smaller than a shoebox. With SFX power supplies becoming more popular - thanks to the success of SG05 and subsequent case designs - SilverStone has decided to release a version of SG05, called "SG05-Lite," without an SFX power supply included. This bare chassis model will be more affordable and give users greater flexibility in choosing components.

Very pleased 6/2/2020 2:39:10 PM

Pros: Small and compact and very versatile

Cons: Can hold an atx board but I didn’t buy it for that so it’s ok

Overall Review: Very pleased and I so happy with my build

Needs good cooling 5/22/2020 6:34:32 AM

Pros: Price, build quality, and size.

Cons: Has to few spots for cooling and only finds a 120mm fan up front

Overall Review: I love this case and would buy it again but the three stars because it only has a single mount for a 120, or 140mm fan/aio up front. The only other place fans are used is on the GPU. I find that the front mont is almost always blocked by power connections and other cords for the mother bored gets almost no cooling any where in the case. You almost NEED to run an aio to not thermal throttle your cpu because the power supply sits directly on top of a air cooler.

Smaller than a shoebox. Fits a full ATX PSU 11/15/2019 11:55:18 PM

Pros: -Fit my new Ryzen 3600 CPU, a full length GTX 1060, a NON-MODULAR 550w ATX psu, and 2 SSDs (and it was easy)

Cons: -It made my i7-8700K Phanteks ITX build jealous. I could literally put two of these INSIDE of my other ITX case. (I think this should be in the Pros section huh?)

-It doesn't allow me to show off LED bling... no dark tinted glass windows, no preinstalled light-show. (also could be a pro for some people)

Overall Review: I don't understand reviewers complaining about not enough space. You only put a computer together once (hopefully) until you upgrade again, so it is worth the time spent on the cable management to save the space on a small build. The smaller, the better, really.

Furthermore, I can say this case was EASY to build in. I did NOT use a modular ATX psu. I was reusing parts from a micro ATX build from my wife's computer. I did not do a careful job making it all look pretty. I pulled out some zip ties and just kept everything neatly bundled as I worked, and it all went in easily... no fancy cable routing needed. With a modular PSU, this thing would be ridiculously simple to work in.

I think complaining about being too small shows inexperience or lack of skill and patience with building computers. with ITX/ SFF, small is the POINT. If anything, I could have appreciated this computer being 1-inch smaller in every direction, but I am thrilled with the small footprint nevertheless. This is a great case, especially for the price.

Great for saving space in an office 10/8/2019 8:51:28 AM

Pros: -More than enough space for components for a high-end office PC
-No thumb screws means less chance of someone tampering with my PC
-Quiet and sleek appearance
-Still have room for future SSD's or HDD's

Cons: - Nothing at the moment. It does what I wanted it to do.

Overall Review: -I would recommend this for anyone looking for a discrete case that still allows for discrete GPU's. If you are looking to fit your high end gaming rig in can be done but you may wish you just went with a mini-atx compatible case. Or if you want a lot of HDD/SSD space, this may not be the best option.
-Also, modular, or semi-modular PSU is a MUST

Great case for a low-profile office desktop 9/14/2019 3:33:07 PM

Pros: All of the specs were exactly as advertised--no surprises while building this case. It has good flexibility for Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX systemboards. The height clearance for the CPU cooler was actually a few mm more than advertised. I used the external slot for a Blu-ray optical drive and I used an internal 3.5" Drive Bay for an HDD (as I used an NVMe SSD, I did not use an internal 2.5" Drive Bay). Wiring was easily done and I added 2 low noise 80 mm case fans (along with the provided 120 mm case fan) for extra cooling. I wound up using a short video card, so I didn't need the stated video card length.

Cons: Due to the support for a Micro-ATX systemboard, the size of this case is closer to the size of a medium fishing tackle box (the dimensions are accurate). This makes this case uncomfortable to carry under one arm. However, once placed on a desk or table, it only an inch and a half wider than a regular tower PC and of course much, much shorter.
There is a rubber cover on the top of the case toward the left-front of the case that opens up to two USB 3.0 sockets, a stereo and mic 3.5mm jacks. I saw the wires going to that corner of the case but missed where they came out until I opened the rubber cover.

Overall Review: If you are looking for a low-profile office desktop, this is an ideal case and the price isn't bad either.

A nice case in the end, but a difficult and constrained build process. 6/3/2019 5:18:48 PM

Pros: The case, of course, is extremely small and has a clean and sleek look to it. It comes with an almost inaudible fan that circulates air through the hard drives then into the motherboard area. I suggest to be safe you should get the cross flow 80mm fans as well. It has much clearance for the cpu cooler and graphics card as well, so if you're gaming you can do that with this case as well.

Cons: If you are using any dvd drive or anything in the 5.25 bay, good luck on cable management. There are absolutely no cable management hooks to tie cables to. The cables become so tight that molex adapter touched my motherboard. Luckily didn't kill it. I ended up having to remove my DVD drive to use the space for cable management.

Second, the screws. They shred SO EASILY. Be extremely careful when tightening these as so far 6 of the screws in my case have shredded after opening the case twice to attempt to redo the cable management.

A good place to start for Small form factor PCs 3/7/2019 3:52:21 PM

Pros: -Inexpensive.
-Good ventilation. A single 120mm fan is enough for a case this size.

Cons: -To many screws. This case took me all the way back to 1999. There isn't a single thumb screw anywhere.
-Cable management is a nightmare if your using a full size non-modular power supply. Spend the extra money and get a SFX fully modular PSU for this case.
-CPU height is really restrictive. Most low profile coolers that are popular for ITX cases are still to big for this case. The AMD Wraith Stealth is about as tall as your going to get with a full size atx PSU, which is fine if you don't plan to overclock your system. You could go with a 120 AIO water cooler and be just fine though as most of those have little to no height clearance if you do plan to overclock.

Overall Review: This case is the cheapest one you'll be able to get at this size. If you don't mind a slightly larger case, the Thermaltake core v1 and the node cases by fractal design are more beginner friendly and have more room for full size power supplies. As an additional note, you cannot use a 140mm fan and a dual fan GPU. So your really restricted to single fan cards if you want the extra air flow from a 140mm fan. The added airflow might be enough to cool the card so it's not loud, but I have not tested this myself.

Great Small Case 2/24/2019 8:41:51 PM

Pros: -Small
-Looks nice
-Fairly painless build (I get a bit OCD with cable management)
-Fairly good thermals with an Intel Core i3 8100 (with Noctual NH-L9i) and fanless EVGA Nvidia GT 1030 (GDDR5) installed

Cons: -I would have preferred this case to use SFX power supplies instead of ATX, but this is a nitpick (their adapter works great, but it cost me another $10)
-Using a 140mm front intake fan causes some issues (only 3 mounting points, blocks part of the 2.5" SSD tray, blocks part of the GPU installation area), but none of these are present when using a 120mm fan
-The outside of the front panel is glossy plastic, and I would have preferred this to be matte (more of a nitpick)
-The ventilation areas in the sides and top of the case don't have dust filters

Overall Review: This case was about $50 at the time of purchase. It's a pretty good deal at that price point. I would have gladly paid $10-$20 more if this case had a better quality front panel and built-in dust filters, but I can't complain too much for a $50 case.
