Tablo DVR. Unleash your HDTV.

Tablo

Tablo is a next-generation DVR that plugs into your HDTV antenna to capture free, local HDTV broadcast programs including news and sports within the US and Canada. Unlike traditional DVRs that are connected to one TV, Tablo connects to your local network to stream live and recorded HDTV content to any connected device inside your home or anywhere you have Internet.

HDTV is Available for Free, Over-the-Air

Most North Americans living in or near major urban centers are within range of local TV broadcast towers, which means they have access to Free HDTV using a simple ATSC antenna plugged into their TV.

Tablo

Tablo - HDTV on the Go

Take your favorite local broadcast TV shows and sports with you. Tablo combines the convenience of a DVR with the mobility of your tablet, smartphone, and laptop to let you enjoy Free HDTV anytime, anywhere on any device.

Tablo

Cut the cord. Enjoy free HDTV.

Save over $2,000 in two years by cutting the cord. Tablo lets you watch, record and stream your favorite local TV content from your HDTV antenna live and in high definition, without the cost or commitment of cable or satellite contracts.

A Better Way to Watch Free HDTV

Tablo's intuitive touch interface with gorgeous artwork and program details lets you view your favorite broadcast shows and sports by genre, channel or time - all in crystal clear high definition.

Tablo

How Tablo Works

Beautiful HDTV programming is broadcast from large towers and sent out over the air by your local TV stations. With an HDTV antenna, you can capture these signals for free. By plugging your antenna into Tablo DVR, you can record your favourite programs on an external USB hard drive. Tablo streams these live and recorded HDTV programs to your connected devices via your home WiFi network, including your big screen TV using AppleTV, Roku or Chromecast.

Tablo

Watch Broadcast TV on Any Device

Tablo lets you watch live and recorded television on any device in your home.

Tablo

Experience Better Quality HD Video That Won't Tie Up Your Bandwidth

Cable operators compress their TV signals to conserve bandwidth in order to deliver multiple services (phone, TV and Internet) over a single connection. Over-the-Air (OTA) HDTV signals received through antennas are uncompressed, delivering an incredibly crisp HD picture far superior to what you've been getting from your cable provider.

Tablo Redefines the remote control

One touch of the Tablo interface on your iPad or Android Tablet and you'll never settle for a traditional remote control again. It's visually rich and colorful, intuitively organized and easy to use.

Tablo

The ultimate cord cutting solution

Tablo captures delivers live, local HDTV broadcast programs you can't get through Over The Top (OTT) Internet content providers like Hulu and Netflix using an HDTV antenna. Catch up on hometown news and sports and watch your favorite network shows live without having to wait until the next day AND without the pricey cable bill.

Worse Device Ever 6/4/2018 9:10:56 AM

Pros: Zero

Cons: Everything .. Keeps dropping the connection and very difficult to reconnect to my Roku Ultra. I have spent so much money on this and supporting hardware plus lifetime subscription because I trusted Tablo. Tablo company will not answer any of my emails. My Tablo hasn't worked for 2 days now and I have spent many hours rebooting the system and doing whatever I can think of to make it work. It refuses to connect and I receive zero support. Newegg only gives you 30 days for returns. Difficult to test everything in 30 days. I will have nothing to do with Tablo or Newegg. Bad service with both companies.

Overall Review: Don't but Tablo products. No support and it is an over priced plastic box that over heats and very unstable. You need to buy a hard drive and a Roku to even operate this garbage and then after all of the money spent it will not continue to work for you. On top of this, Tablo will ignore you. Stay away from Tablo.

Quits working often. Poor excuse for a DVR Tuner 6/3/2018 8:55:28 PM

Pros: 4 tuners, connect to a large hard drive, good support, small device, easy to use, great Live TV guide

Cons: I need to reboot the Tablo too often to connect so I can watch TV. It probably happens every couple months.
Also when I did an update Tablo sent to me, I could no longer connect and use my Tablo DVR. I did several hours of troubleshooting, rebooting, and resetting my modem and router .... so many times ... before I could get it to work again. SO FRUSTRATING. It really is too bad too because this could be the best DVR for OTA TV out there.
Update:
DO NOT BUY A TABLO
I have had it for awhile now and it keeps dropping out and won't allow me to reconnect unless I reboot the Tablo. I might need to reboot several times before it connects. Also, Tablo sent out an update and after the update was downloaded, my Tablo would not connect and I lost all recordings scheduled that night. I worked with it from 7:30 PM until 11:00 that night. I sent Tablo an email and did not receive a response. This is a good idea with poor execution. I am having trouble with my Tablo again tonight and I am about ready to throw it out the window. Sad thing is, I paid for lifetime subscription. Expensive equipment for a faulty build and too much for their so called live TV Guide. Don't buy it, you will also be sorry and frustrated.
I Hate My Tablo!!!!

Overall Review: Tablo is over priced plastic junk that will fail far too many times

Cut The Cable 5/10/2016 8:05:35 AM

Pros: Records OTA TV, no need to $13 a month Cable company equipment. Expandable size since no on board hard drive.

Cons: Needs an external hard drive connected via USB 2. No NAS allowed.

Overall Review: Cons known about before purchase so I was prepared.

Great first impression, but s/w still needs some work 12/16/2015 5:05:04 PM

Pros: I was sold on the concept and bought the device. Setup was very very easy. I was done in 30 minutes. Interface is clean too. I scheduled many recordings and they all seems to be recording fine except couple of them were incomplete. I am still observing the behavior. I like that I can watch on my Roku device, single interface for everything :-)

Cons: Switching channel is painfully slower compared to TWC or Dish etc. Also, loading your program takes a few seconds (not too bad but below expectation) irrespective of wired or wireless setup. It is significant initial investment i.e. ~$300 for the device + $80 for 2TB (you can choose lower capacity) + if you choose to subscribe to guide.

Overall Review: You need to have good WiFi setup (I have AC1900 router and range extenders) or wired setup (I have powerline 1200 AV2 ). My Hard drive is WD Elements external Desktop 2TB drive.

once great but now busted 6/8/2015 6:23:47 PM

Pros: Used to work quite well

Cons: Latest firmware causes me 7 month old Tablo to constsntly crash and reboot when viewing with Roku. Worked great for 5 months until firmware was supposedly upgraded. My system went from very usable to being basically useless. My investments for Tablo 4 tuner DVR, lifetime subscription, big hard disk and OTA antenna installation are $770 of mostly wasted money. Tablo takes absolutely no responsibility and blames problem on Roku. Roku points to Tablo and takes no responsibility. Consumers get no remedy whatsover. Two months later the Tablo support website has many unhappy users but no hint whatsoever of any solution. Tablo support merely states: "We hope Roku finds a solution soon".

BEST OTA DVR 5/4/2015 3:53:19 PM

Pros: I cut the cable cord a year ago, and was searching for a DVR when I found the Tablo. I already had a Roku 3, so the Tablo sounded like what I wanted. The cost for the EPG is for ALL the Tablos you have and not per device.

Cons: pretty new company and some basic features are currently lacking, but they are coming. Example: Ability to delete all recordings of a show, or keep the last so many recordings of a show.

Overall Review: The EPG is not required, but if you have it, you can watch your TV anyplace you are that there is internet connectivity. Firetv, Roku, or other device required to watch.

4/23/2015 11:26:19 AM

Pros: the Tablo has recorded all of the shows and movies I have chosen. Works very well with my Roku 3 and an older roku 1. Tested running both at the same time and found no problems(I do run very high speed access). Setup was quick and easy. Used the PC app for setup and have setup many recording using the adnroid app also. All and all I am very happy with my Tablo.

Cons: It does run very hot. See other coments

Overall Review: I have a 1.5 TB drive pluged in the one of the USB ports and in the other I have pluged in a laptop cooling pad and placced it under the Tablo and Hard drive. It is never more than warm now. very nice fix. Cooler is USB Powered. Found a nice deal on Newegg. Very quite and keeps the Tablo cool.
