yes it does, I tested it, even though I only use Mac and Linux.
this drive does have a problem, and that is the way that Toshiba partitioned it,  the file system goes corrupt after a month using the drive,  I lost about 1.5TB of data and not even the best partition recovery could get all my data.  Here,s what I did after that,  I used linux parted and created a GPT partition and then reformatted the drive with xfs and no more errors,  u could do the same except reformat yours as NTFS, so before u place one single mb of data on it, copy the software included and reformat it yourself

my toshiba T3 had stopped working , were is the driver for this hard drive to see if I can get it going again so as i dont loose a life time of photos, cannot believe there are no drivers if help to get it going  again, light come on it humms  like normal but does not show on my computer as a drive  HELP /////???????????????????????????

Have you tried the drive on a different computer? If it does work on a different computer, then you will know two things. First, your files are safe. Second, there is, as you suspect, a problem with the first computer. After trying the drive on a second computer, go back to the first computer and plug the drive in. Try a different USB port than the one you have been using. If that doesn't solve the problem, then go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager and see if there is anything with an exclamation mark "!" or a question mark "?" If there is something like that in the USB section, then right-click and select uninstall. This does no harm to the contents of the drive. Your files are still safe. Then unplug the USB cable, count to 5, and plug it back in. Most times, that will fix it. Good luck!

I bought this hard drive a couple of months ago and did not open it until recently and when I plugged it into my computer running Windows 8 it did not appear compatible because it was not seen or anything. It does not say it is compatible with Windows 8 on this site but on Toshiba's site it does say compatible with Windows 8. So are they offering an updated hard drive or should this one be working with Windows 8?

Please save yourself the hassle, do not purchase this product. I purchased this 3TB from Newegg in mid September, 2013, for $99.99. It lasted until sometime in November, when it just stopped working and starting making a clicking sound. Since it was 30 days past purchase date, I had to contact Toshiba. They had me ship them my TB and gave me a $218.33 coupon to purchase a product from them. If I had taken the time to read the reviews, which I usually do, I would have seen how many people have had the same issue with this exact 3TD hard drive. Check out Toshiba's website and you'll see. This description says its formatted for Windows XP, Window 7 or Windows 8.  Does that mean it won't function with Windows 10?

Accidentally partitioned my Toshiba HDWC130XK3J1 using ACRONIS utilities and tools.  It is no longer recognized.  Purchased last month.  Have no formatting tools.

Sorry Fred,  I have no idea, you seem more advanced in  understanding technical terms that I do,  iam do not know what ACRONIS  is or why you wanted to partition  an external drive.

Hello, what is the expected average lifespan of this external HDD?

I've had this external for almost a year and without fail it starts up fast, and never overheats. I have not found one thing wrong with this drive and plan on purchasing another very soon.

Can it to be reformatted to record dvr dish recordings?

Yes, you can formatted. The dish DVR back up is a Linux based.. I'm not sure if can handle over 2 TB hard drive

I am looking for an oem replacement AC power supply for this hdd. I have tried universal power supplies, but they do not work. Toshiba support is obsolutely clueless. Any help?

I don't remember the right power because I have many together  but my toshiva work fine w this power suppy 12v 1.5a for toshiva model wa-18g 12u
