Does this printer INCLUDE a Toner & Drum Cartridge?

Yes, the printer includes what Brother calls a "starter cartridge." Unfortunately I couldn't keep track of how long it lasted - other people in the office are also printing - but apparently it lasts about half as long as a regular cartridge, and 1/4 as long as the high capacity cartridge, which I recommend.  I would also suggest you go into the printer's web based menu and enable TONER SAVE mode. If you do it immediately, your co-workers won't even notice!

Does the software allow you to scan multiple-page documents and save as a single file?

Yes, it scans multiple pages as well as double sided. It gives the option to save scan in a few forms. Great printer for the price.

I wanted to know if the product can scan documents onto JPEG files?

yes, you can scan to jpeg if you have the right program and Paperport comes with the printer. Each time you start Paperport up a setting window opens when you try to scan. You can choose color photo and then choose the type of file. Happy scanning!

New.  I really like the printer and bought 4 of them for my office.  Very happy.  Only complaint is that the 2-sided scanning and printing is slow.  Buy a high-end scanner if you do a lot of scanning.

does fax work with VOIP phone line?

I use another brother printer on Vonage.  I believe it is suggested to slow down the fax to 33k or lower and turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off.  But it does work.  Every once in a while I will get a hiccup but I fax so little it is not an issue.  Hard to tell where the hiccup comes from.  Helps if your router has QoS enabled.  Also I believe Vonage has a dedicated fax line but I doubt it's any better.

Yes, this particular model does have a document feeder for scanning/faxing/copying on top of the unit as well as an MFP slot situated above the paper tray and below the printer output on the front of the unit

I use this printer with a MacBook Air and several iOS devices, so I can confirm that writing and canning functions work. I did the setup using a Windows 8 computer, so I cannot speak to how well setup would work from a Mac.

max DPI is 1200x1200 for the scanner, regardless of the feed.

For the feed scanner (that also does double-sided), can this work for feeding in images/family photos?

The feeder for scanned documents has markings for letter and A4 paper, but it will slide down to a width of just under 6 inches.  Just to be able to answer your question, I tried running a 4x6 photo through it, but unfortunately it jammed.  The 4 inch edge wasn't long enough to flow through the rollers.  Sorry, but I don't think the feeder would handle photos, but of course, the manual flatbed would work.
