If my labtop is VGA and my screen is HDMI.
Will it work?

No, it won't. The direction of conversion is HDMI-to-VGA, not reverse. Your laptop or other device (eg. iPAD, that's how I use it) will need a HDMI output, then by using this adapter you can hook up a VGA monitor.

Dunno... it's basically useless without an AD convertor with PC... probably Mac too. I would suggest looking at Apple approved cabling. Maybe a camera converter cable?

I have been able to get a picture on my auxiliary monitor but there is no sound. I think I have connected the separate cable properly to a USB port but still there is no sound. Have I not connected it properly?

Your sound goes through the sound card.  This only supports video and is only dealing with the video card.  Your speakers should use a connection like a headphone jack.  As far as I could tell from the description of the product the USB cable is only to help power the adapter.  This has nothing to do with sound.

This adapter will allow dual monitors if the PC can handle it, however it will simply act as a second monitor. Though when you add a second monitor Windows will usually make the desktop extend across both monitors, making one big monitor in the since that you can have one application showing on one monitor and a separate one on the other.

Not very long, but since it connects to a VGA cable, it doesn't really need to be. The VGA cable can be longer if you need more length. I used this with a Samsung C720 Chromebook and an older Epson 83+ projector & it worked very well.

I am already using an adapter for vga to usb. Will this product work in conjunction to extend my desktop onto a third monitor? my graphics card is able to handle the load. I am trying to build a work station and a third monitor woul increase productivity.

I am not sure of exactly what you are trying to do, but the USB portion of this adapter (the cable on the left in the photo) is only for connecting audio from a monitor to the USB socket of a PC or laptop.  This adaptor converts VGA to HDMI.  I am using it with a VGA KVM to connect to my Laptop.  The laptop has a female HDMI socket and the KVM has a male VGA plug.  This adaptor connects the male VGA from the KVM to the female HDMI video socket on the laptop.

If I buy this product can I then find a connector that takes the VGA output to a television that has the yellow video RCA jack input and the white and red RCA to stereo jacks or do I still need a digital to analog converter?
