Will this work with a TV that only has three mono-jack inputs {red, whit & yellow}?

NO.

You would need an HDMI to RCA or Composite converter. 
The yellow is the video signal. the red and white are the audio.

Make sure it is not just an adapter wire, it needs to be a converter which almost always will require power as well.

To use this hdmi to vga+r/l audio converter you would need to convert the vga output from the converter to single video composite input so you could still plug the three mono jacks (red, white, yellow) into your tv. This means additional converters and would not make any sense to do unless you had the converters already on hand. Less conversion the better. Just look for the right converter.

Question 2

I have the current Apple TV (3) that only has HDMI output.  Could I use this on my Samsung DLP TV?  It does support DVI and VGA but is not new enough to support HDMI.  I need both the video and audio.  I bought a simple cord and it didn't work.  Will the copyright  protection cause problems?

This will work, but there are DVI to HDMI cables. I recommend one of those over this. It will lead to a better picture. You only need a box to convert to VGA because the digital output of the Apple TV has to be translated into an analog output. DVI is digital, so no box is needed. Hope this helps!

I have an older TV with no HDMI inputs but it has a VGA input for HD. I have a new Bluray player that only has HDMI output. will this item allow me to play the bluray on the TV?

We bought this device to hookup a laptop with hdmi connection to send signal to a vga monitor for editing video. so the signal is going from hdmi to vga. The only thing I can see is that you would be losing the HD quality from the blueray player to the old tv. If I were you I would watch for the excellent black Friday sales coming soon and get a "smart tv" because there are so many more benefits with a smart tv that would increase your tv enjoyment and picture quality.

Does this support HDCP?  If I have my cable box output to this, and convert it to VGA, will it work?

Yes, but the resolution will have to be adjusted manually, even on 'upconverting' displays.

So I have a 1920 x 1080 LCD Samsung monitor that only has a VGA input. Would I be able to use this to connect HDMI only devices and still be able to use the full 1920 x 1080 resolution?

If your only option is a VGA input, unlikely. If you have an availabel HDMI, consider this combined with a DVI to HDMI cable or adapter from the DVI connector on this.
