The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro is designed for macro photography up to life size (1x) magnification. The macro photography would uncover details that would be impossible to detect by the naked eye, and gives new perspective to minute objects like insects and flowers. This medium telephoto prime lens is also great for portraiture and other applications.

This lens comprises 12 elements in 8 groups, and features a 3-group floating system that results in excellent delineation at all focusing distances. A ring-type USM allows for silent and high-speed AF, and full-time manual focusing allows you to fine tune focus even in AF mode. The inner focusing affords a long working distance of 5.9" (149mm) at 1x, thus you don’t have to worry about getting too close to the object. For more versatility, the front ring does not rotate during focusing, making it easy to use front-mounting accessories like polarizer and macro ring lite.

distances and a focus range limiter function enables faster autofocus
times within one of two appropriate ranges.
