what is in the box? Front and rear caps? Instruction book?

Front and rear caps are included but I don't have the instruction book in my box (I bought it last year and haven't used the box since). It may have come with it, but honestly, I didn't even look at it. I can tell you that I use this lens 95% of the time for my portrait and event work.

1. 58mm (Specifications can be found on Canon's Lens web site) 2. Yes - The Canon EOS 40D supports lens mounts EF, EF-S, TS-E, and MP-E. (Specifications can be found on Canon's Camera web site) Note of caution: The Canon 40D has an APS-C (cropped) sensor as my Rebel T5i does rather than a full frame sensor like the 5D Mark II. This means that this lens acts as a zoom lens (approx. 70-75mm fixed) for your cropped sensor. Since I knew that when I bought my lens, it was not an issue. All I need to do is either be further away from my subject or use a good wide angle lens adapter to capture everything. This is by far my favorite lens I own as it produces brilliantly sharp images in most lighting situations.
