Windows 10 compatible??

The Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner is Windows 10 compatible.  I use it with a Windows 10 PC and it works fine.  I had to download updated software from the Canon website after I upgraded it to Windows 10.  It may now be shipping with updated software compatible with Windows 10.  I have had mine for over 3 years.

What size is the scan bed area?

Actual size of the scanner bed is 9" wide x 12" height. I cannot say if it will work with Windows 10. It has not been working on my computer since I upgraded. I am sure there are drivers, I just have not made the effort to get it done.

Question 3

Will this scanner operate with W7 64bit?
I have received four answers on another site.  Two yes and two no with no explanation.  Much confused.

I have this printer and I am using Win7 x64. I can't remember the exact names, but when ran setup from the CD, I only chose to install the minimum. I did not install the canon photo software (this is where I don't remember the name). I only installed the "IJ Scan Utility". Once configured, you launch it, and you have only a toolbar on your screen. You can configure the settings of the buttons. 
I only use it to scan old photos. I put a picture down on the glass, click the "photo" button on the screen (toolbar).  It scans and saves the file in a folder I pre-configured. Remove the picture and repeat. My workflow is pretty fast. Great scanner and fast enough for me. It has a little weight to it, so it feels solid.

I am use this for on a Mac Computer and  for a windows 7 Computer. I think you will need to get the 8.1  software from canon if your installation disk does not come with it already.I just check the canon website and the software is available. 
Really good scanner. I purchased 6 for our company everyone is happy with it.

Question 5

I have some very old black and white negatives that are about 100 years old, they are the old single large size negatives 3x5 , not 35mm. Could this scanner be used to to scan them?

There is an attachment that allows you to position slides and negatives, but it is NOT required to be able to copy. 
I have not done it with the negative you describe, but I have done it with mine by just laying the negative on the scanner surface.
It does not complete the negative and give you a photograph, it copies identical to what is on the scanner.
I have not tried to have one "Developed" into a photograph with an online service, and if you print it, you will have a copy of the negative but I am fairly certain that a printed paper copy is not usable to make a print. The scanner and software were awesome. I could lay 8 different items in various locations on the scanner, and the software would detect each one and allow me to save them as individual files. It has settings for images or documents.
The software also had an editor that allowed me to take an image and make change a color photo to a negative, brown tint, blue tint etc file.

I have a a ton of VERY old negatives as I am settling an estate and would like to know of what they are.  Few are of a precise size, varying from 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 to 3 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Will this scanner work on historic negative with varying sizes?  I have a scanner that does 35mm slides and negatives very well, but it will only scan a portion of these larger negatives.

The system has software that will automatically make separate files for each individual image if multiple images are scanned simultaneously. Ie: a 3x5, 4x6, 2x2, 5x7, in different orientations, can all be placed on the flat bed, and will become 4 separate files, which you can edit individually. There is a special adjustable frame that adjusts for multiple 3x5 or roll negatives a strip or more at a time. So yes the old style larger up to 8x10 can be scanned. You do need to adjust the scanner for color and tint sometimes depending on your use for the final scanned negative. Cation, keep the software disk in a safe place. It has a special device unique encoding. I lost a drive and had to download replacement software from the website. It would not work right until I inserted the original disk for authentication. Hope that helps. Amazing scanner, love it. Nice image editing and database software included.

How exactly does this work?  I have thousands of slides that I want to make digital.

It comes with a plastic template to use for scanning slides.  I have not used it yet but I believe that in the users manual there are directions on how to do this.

I have 35 mm negs and slides as well as 2 1/4 and 2 3/4 negs.  Will this digitize all three sizes?

It will digitize 120 and 35mm negatives and slides. The quality is as good as the source (55 year old Ektachrome will need color rebalancing).

Yes, I am using it for documents and photos with my old MacBook. I have had no problems, set up was very easy and so is everyday use. I just turn the scanner on and scan. I don't have to open the scan application. It comes on automatically when I scan.

what kind of job will this scanner do with 110 slides from the old Kodak pocket camera??

If you mean the extra small 110 film, then no, there isnt a carrier for that film. I would think where there is a will, there is a way. One could get the smaller slides rigged in a way that you could scan using the larger 35mm carrier. The great resolution should give acceptable results.
