And you have pretty much nailed the problem. If you had used the 16-35 mm fast lens your distance issue would have been taken care of (remember with a crop sensor, multiply the length by 1.6, therefore a 24 mm would become a 38.4 mm). Also with respect to the low light noise issue, I used a 600 EX RT flash in the basic ETTL mode and achieved great results when shooting night parties and some weddings. You didn't specify what type of flash you used, but not all flashes are created equal. Canon 600 EX flashes are known to boost power when needed - as the built-in metering gauges what's needed. But I think the 7D Mark II is an awesome camera. And if you are proficient enough, you can rival any 5D.

I see that this is being sold through NewEgg by Red Tag Camera. Can we determine if they will sell the US or International version of the camera?
