does this camera have an adjustable aperature?

It's not the camera that has an Aperture, that is part of the lens. The Kit lens that comes with this is adjustable. the aperture listed for the lens (f/3.5-f/5.6) is just the fastest (widest open) the lens will go and for this lens it varies depending on focal length (so f/3.5 @ 18mm, f/5.6 @ 55mm).

Does this camera support AC power?

As far as I can tell, no it does not. The only power source is the battery pack that comes with the unit.

why my display screen will not work?

There's a button just to the right of the screen that looks like the shape of a camera with a screen. Hit that and it will toggle the screen on and off.
