Pros: The small business line of Cisco Switches are amazing for the price. You get a fully featured managed, layer-3 switch for a couple hundred dollars. I have a 20 port and a 10 port, and both run without any hiccups. These are for both a production and lab environment, and being able to VLAN these out is very nice.
Cons: The way they number the ports is a bit of a pain. They are ordered 1-10 across the top row, and 11-20 on the bottom. Most other switches go vertically rather than horizontally. This is a cosmetic item, though.
Pros: Quiet, fast, low power draw, gigabit ports, runs cool, QOS, Traffic shaping, layer 2 or 3 mode, CLI & web interface. This switch puts the SRW2016 to shame. I junked 6 SRW2016 once I received and tested the first SG300. I have not had a single hiccup since installation last year. You get the picture.
Cons: Worth every penny but wished I could have spent a little less.
Overall Review: Buy Cisco rebate promotion ended before I received my switches so I was stuck with it at the listed price
Pros: switch is easy to use, highly configurable, great throughput, fantastic manageability. firmware updates have brought a faster GUI, and better multi browser support.
Cons: could use greater browser compatibility but such is the way with all products in this range, i have to remember in safari i cannot save changes if safari has not been reset recently, opera seems to have a few issues, though on all platforms firefox works.
Overall Review: has made me look at the Cisco SMB routers/security devices again
strongly believe i will procure an ISA5xx product over a main line cisco 800/1900 series
Pros: Great bang-for-buck layer 3 capable switch.
Fanless = silent operation.
Cons: A little pricy but bought when Cisco offered $150 rebates.
Pros: Device arrived 1 day after order, that's props to newegg. As far as the actual hardware, the build quality is good. It reminds me of the old small business Linksys switches, which is exactly what this switch is - only improved in all areas. The GUI works in chrome and firefox, which is not the case with much of the competition (and few year old managed linksys switches). The CLI is quite nice, anyone with networking experience will feel right at home. Took me only few minutes to get to the configuration I desired. So far I've been pushing several gigs between few home servers and the switch is holding sold. Did I mentioned all ports are 1G? And it has a console access in the back? Gotta love it.
Cons: Price! Kinda of costly for my budget, but it really does it all for the price so can't really complain.
Overall Review: Got it on sale through Newegg.
Pros: Easy to configure out-of-the-box, has VLAN support, and allows for configuration via CLI with a console cable.
Cons: None so far. Thumbs up to the Cisco Small Business team.
Overall Review: I purchased this to replace my old Netgear 8-port desktop 100Base unmanaged switch that use to be at the core of my small network. I was a little apprehensive about upgrading to a fully managed Cisco switch, simply because I had no experience using Cisco products or their CLI. The web-managed interface told me exactly what I needed to do, and my network was up-and-running again within about five minutes after I mounted the switch in my cabinet. I will definitely be going to the Newegg Cisco Small Business store next time I look to make any more upgrades to my network!
