Is it safe to use this in a bathroom above a vanity mirror? The shower does generate steam and the bathroom is therefore a damp area.

the bulb is great. Gives an even bright light. Does not get hot like an incandescent bulb. Fully sealed body. I would use this bulb in a bathroom as I would have no reason to feel a moisture issue would cause a problem.

Question 2

How is a 636 lumen bulb listed as equivalent to a 75 watt incandescent bulb? This is equal to about a 45 watt bulb.

I did my homework and searched the specs of incandescent bulbs.
You are correct. Sounds like false advertising to me.
40 watt incandescent = 380 – 460 Lumens
60 watt incandescent = 750 – 850 lumens
75 watt incandescent = 1100 – 1300 lumens

I also found

5W LED Candelabras  = 400 lumens
7W LEDs A19s =  600 lumens
12W LED PAR30 = 850 lumens

•To replace a 100-watt incandescent bulb, look for a bulb that gives you about 1600 lumens.
•Replace a 75W bulb with an LED bulb that gives you about 1100 lumens
•Replace a 60W bulb with an LED bulb that gives you about 800 lumens
•Replace a 40W bulb with an LED bulb that gives you about 450 lumens

You can get as many as 110 lumens per watt with an LED bulb. Compare that to an incandescent, which only produces 12-17 lumens per watt. 
I guess the real answer is LEDs are more efficient in Lumen / Watt dept. After reading all of these specs, I must admit something stinks. A 75 Watt incandescent is a minimum of 1100 Lumens NOT 636 Lumens.
