Mixing x4 and x8 modules is allowed, however not within the same bank. When using the Intel E5-1600 series CPU only one CPU socket can be populated and only the corresponding DIMMs sockets can be utilized. The Intel E5-1600 only supports ECC UDIMMs and RDIMMs.
