Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus RS-460-PMSR-A3 460W ATX12V V2.3 Power Supply

Pros: Fits perfectly, quiet, 460 watts means that my system can grow with it.

Cons: SATA power cables are all attached (one extends to the next, which extends to the next) instead of being separate. Because of the length, if you have a DVD/RW drive at the top of your case and your hard drive in the lower part, they won't reach. I had to use a molex to SATA power adapter to reach the hard drive.

Pros: Price was good. 30.00 delivered 6 pin for video card was tested to be more efficient than rated.( see other thoughts) 2 18 amp 12 volt rails. Quiet

Cons: rated for 460 watts. maxes out at 435 watts. still not really a con for me. If i needed all 460 watts i would have surely spent more than 30 dollars.

Overall Review: Found info at hardware secrets about this product. they tested it and found it to be 76.5% and 82.5% at 115 V. that is quite impressive for such an inexpensive product. ($40). The system i built consisted of E7400 , 9600gt O/C 512mb reference cooled card, 900 2 case. g31 motherboard, dvd burner. dual channel pc6400 ram (red heat sink ones that use the saying where speed is). Turned out to be a sweet build for 500 in Jan 2010.This rig is not used for gaming but it will do it nicely. I would recommend this power supply if on a budget. I would buy again. It handled over-clocking well on CPU and gpu . Prime 95 at 3.4 and passed multiple runs of fur mark and 3d mark 06.This doesn't mean all cheap psu's from this brand are as good as this one. Do research first, and usually it will pay off.

Pros: Pretty good construction, nice mesh around the cables to keep them protected, decent weight -- doesn't feel cheap, decent price.

Cons: There appeared to be heatwrap from some internal components making contact with the cooling fan causing it to make a horrendous noise when powered on.

Overall Review: I can understand defects in the manufacturing process. What I cannot understand is Cooler Master's incompetent technical support telling me in broken English to take the fan off and clean it (the fan wasn't removable from the outside so they had the wrong model) after I spent a good hour documenting the problem, including sending them pictures. I got no reply to my second email from them. I think that was the last Cooler Master product I'll be purchasing despite having purchased a couple of power supplies and a couple of external drive enclosures from them and being happy with the quality.

Pros: Inexpensive, it works. So far, seems to be like a good PSU if you are on a budget.

Cons: Doesn't have any many power connectors as some of the nicer power supplies do. But for me it was a tradeoff between price.

Overall Review: I paired this PSU with an ECS P35T-A board, E6550 CPU, 2x1GB A-DATA DDR2-800 ram (CAS 5), an EVGA Geforce 7600GT and a 6-year old Antec case I already had.

Pros: Used for about a year now and runs solid, no loose connectors which I have run into with some other low price PSU's after replacing or adding drives. Runs very quiet.

Pros: 4th build with this same unit. so far 100% uptime, and no issues. very quiet when not being abused by users tying to much into it. use it for dual core silent builds and never hear a peep out of the fan.

Overall Review: I bought this to replace a PSU that started to sound like a jet engine. I have had it running pretty much 24/7 since I bought it in February and it's still as quiet as the day I bought it. My CPU fan is louder than this unit. This is a very good power supply for the price. I've got three hard drives, two optical drives, a Phenom II X3, and a GeForce GT 240 hooked up to it and it does quite well for itself. I've recommended it to others who have sought my advice on building/upgrading computers.
