Question 1

Is there an air filter on this device?

I don't want unfiltered air blowing into my case.

Any easy way I could add an air filter to this device?

There is no air filter, there is a mess cover but that would do little to keep much dust out.

As I look at this I think it would be a very tight fit to add a filter as well.  There is not much room between the fan and the mesh and it would take about a 6 inch tiny phillips to get to the two screws holding on the front cover.

Mine are not case mounted, they are stacked one on top of another and I have not noticed much dust accumulating on the drives yet, this is the 5th one on the stack and the oldest one has been running for about a year.

Question 2

Can I easily remove the sleeve bearing fan and replace it with a Fluid Bearing Fan or Hydrodynamic bearing fan or Magnetic bearing fan?

Looking at the pic it kinda looks like the fan is mounted horizontally?  That would be a big engineering mistake.  Sleeve Bearing Fans are only allowed to be mounted vertically, otherwise they wear out very quickly and become terribly horribly noisy.

My proper vertical sleeve bearing fans have only lasted me a few years before they get LOUD.

As long as I can remove the fan and easily replace it with a high quality fan then everything will be ok.

The fan is vertical right behind the front black plastic. Both the fan and front plastic are attached individually to the aluminum.

The plastic front can be easily removed (screws, behind/inside) but the fan is attached with some kind of plastic psudo-rivets. You'd have to drill through or otherwise remove those and replace with bolt+screws.

The fan is attached via the normal mounting holes so you wouldn't have to do anything too destructive to the fan or aluminum, just get rid of the fake rivets and you should be able to put any 120mm fan you want.

Is this for only Coolermaster brand cases or could it maybe used used in another brand case?

I was a little worried myself about that but It seems to work with any and I got it and put it in my rosewill case without any real problem. It seems like it would work with any case that has the available bays regardless of manufacturer.

Question 4

Does anyone know if this bay would work in a Chenbro RM41300 chassis?

I do not have this chassis. However, this chassis does have 3 external bays on the right side, and the Cooler Master should fit as designed. I am very satisfied with the Cooler Master 4-in-3 Device Module Cage. I have purchased 4 over the past 2 years, each still performing as expected. Well built.

Question 5

Does anyone know if this will fit in the Chenbro RM41300 chassis 5.25 bay? I want to add HDD's and this would be perfect if it will fit.

the Chenbro RM41300 chassis takes 3  5.25 bays and makes 4 3.5 bays  so it will only fit if you have 3 bays in your case.

Question 6

Why is there a large piece of plastic that says "Cooler Master" blocking 33% of the air intake of the fan?

Isn't that just wasting electricity for nothing?

Can that piece of plastic, that covers about 1/3rd of the entire fan, be removed to allow easy airflow?

Yes, it can be removed. I did so.
It doesn't block air at all. The fan speed is low, so this plastic doesn't matter at all.
