My motherboard is a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 that has six 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 24GB of memory. It has dual/3channel memory architecture. It supports DDR3 2100+/1333/1066/800 Mhz memory modules. I am concerned about the Corsair Vengeance 24GB (6x4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 desktop memory model CMZ24GX3M6A1600C9 being compatable?

We have an editing rig we built in 2009 that has the ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer MOBO, Intel Core i7-950 and CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (6 slots). It wasn't on the compatabilty list but I knew others that had a similar MOBO and it worked. It worked great and last year we upgraded to the CORSAIR Vengeance 24GB (6 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 to take it up to 24GB. ran tests and everything has been well with the SDRAM so no issues with that. We are having issues with Premiere Pro CC and exporting now but guessing is has to do more with our GTX 295 and CUDA than anything else. But that's a another issue. But the memory has worked well. Time to build a new rig.

Does this ram work in a Asus P6X58D-E? The manual says 1066, 1333, then jumps to 2000 OC? I have the core i7 980 extreme processor. It currently has 6 GB Corsair Dominator Tri channel ram. I won this computer from Newegg a few years back in a red Li Lan aluminum case.

On the website for the motherboard you specified it lists 1600 as a viable speed. So yes it should work. However since you are filling all dims to the max the board may under clock the memory. So don't be surprised if you get 1333 from 1600. The same way 2000 would give you more like 1600

Hello i'm trying to upgrade my rig from 6 gb to either 12 or 24gb of ram. The mobo i have is evga 131-gt-e767 aka EVGA x58 SLI3.
It does support triple channel ram and can handle 1600. But at the same time, i have an i950 OCed to about 3.8. From what i've read online the i950 cannot even handle 1600. Can anyone verify if this is true and if my system is compatible for the upgrade?  Also if i can upgrade is 1600 the max speed my rig is able to handle?

I'm running some virtual machines and a lot of multitasking and have been bottlenecked with ram.

I don't think that RAM speed is a huge concern for your needs, you just need more of it available.  Like I have said to other people, you can try enabling the XMP profile in your BIOS but even if it only reads at 1600Mhz it should work just fine.  RAM speed has very little real world benefit for most applications.
