The Twin2X4096-6400C5 G is a 4096MByte matched pair of DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs. This part delivers outstanding performance in the latest generation of dual-channel DDR2-based motherboards. It has been tested extensively in multiple DDR2 motherboards to ensure compatibility and performance at its rated speed. This memory has been verified to operate at 800MHz at the low latencies of 5-5-5-18.
Pros: The Corsair memory goes on sale quite a bit, and sometimes the deals are so good you want to reach for your wallet. If you're someone who sticks to known memory brands like Crucial, yes, you can be safe with this memory. I've been using it for years in about four different computers, and so far no issues. But, just the same, I am not a gamer.
Cons: There's a bit more to memory than meets the eye. If you are a serious gamer you probably already know about memory timings. If not read about it on Wikipedia if you would like to know more. This RAM isn't state of the art in high speed. If you're in that ten percent who needs high end performance, you can find faster timings. If you're in the other 90 percent this memory is more than fine.
Overall Review: Break out the old mobo manual and check out a few things. First, how much memory can your MOBO hold? If it has the slots for this RAM, and yet only recognize 2GB, then 2 is all you'll get. The other thing is to be certain that your MOBO will appreciate duel channel DDR2 PC6400 memory. If you have a MOBO that specs a slower speed, you most likely can still use this memory, as it will step down. The last thing is that I am a memory purist. I don't trust that the memory I buy six months from now will match this memory even if they are from the same manufacture. Therefore, when I buy memory, I fill up the board with memory bought at the same time. Thus, if you buy this memory and you ultimately want 8GB on your board, buy it all at once. Buy a second set of this memory.
