Why do neither AMD nor Corsair list this model number on their lists of Ryzen-compatible RAM? (I'd link both websites but I'm not allowed to include URLs in questions.)

I can tell you why. I have the SK Hynix module that you listed with Ryzen and it won't work with at full speed. With the latest bios on x370 with a Ryzen 2700x it will run at 3000mhz C16 stable. The Samsung version runs much better with Ryzen.

I bought this ram but didn't notice it said it was for AMD Ryzen. My motherboard is a an Asus Rog Hero IV and cpu is i7 7700k. Will this be compatible even if its meant for AMD Ryzen?

Yes, it will work for an Intel Processor. You might see slightly better performance when it is 'customized' but often it is negligible.

What is special about this that makes this "compatible for Ryzen"? I see no difference in the specs from the CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 model.

There have been reports of RAM not being able to run at full speed on ryzen/threadripper. From my understanding these use samsung chips and will run at full speed. I'm using these in my threadripper build and am getting full speed with the xmp profile.

This says its for a AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen. Compatible Model. Will it work fine with a AMD Ryzen 2rd Gen CPU?

it is not on the supported list. I had almost the same setup Asrock B450 itx.  it goes through periods of crashing at 3200.  When it started, I tried to replace it, but Corsair denied since it was not on the supported list for my mobo.  It runs just fine when I clocked it down to 3133.

WOrth spending a few extra bucks. Trident Z Neo is what I have been getting lately.
