The CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 is not tested on the ASUS  299EX.

As far as if it will work on x299 I'm not sure but I use my set in an x99 depuxe II and it works fine. And if you are asking what is the difference between 4x8 and 2x16 then using the 4b allow you to take advantage of quad channel if your motherboard supports it so it will have shorter latency. Don't know if that answers it for you
