What is the principle of laser treatment for arthritis?
1. The main hypothesis of phototherapy is that our cells absorb light wavelengths between 600nm and 1000nm (red and near-infrared), thereby increasing the production of natural energy (ATP).
2. During phototherapy, cells release nitric oxide (NO). Red/IR light displaces NO from cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria, allowing oxygen to be processed again.
3. A small amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is released after phototherapy.
4. Red/infrared phototherapy may stimulate vasodilation, which is related to (NO) and is very important for joint inflammation and arthritis.
