how do I get my mac and iPhone to recognize the device? there were no instructions included with the item.

To stream music wirelessly with Creative D80, do the following steps:

Power on the speaker. Attach the AC cord to the AC IN and flick the Power switch to ON position.

The LED status indicator will lit steady indicating the speaker is currently ON. To allow pairing to other Bluetooth devices, press and hold the Connect button for 3 seconds. Release when 2 beep tones are heard with the LED status indicator blinking rapidly.

Connect and pair your Bluetooth device to the speaker. Note that below are generic steps to pair to a Bluetooth device. For more specific instructions on Bluetooth connectivity for your device, please consult your manufacturer's manual.
Turn ON the Bluetooth feature on your device.

Search for Creative D80.

Pair and connect to Creative D80. If prompted for passcode, enter 0000.

Note: The Creative D80 speaker can pair up to 8 Bluetooth devices but only one device can be active at a time.

Pairing successful, ready to stream music. LED blinks every 2 seconds when it is connected.

Try to stream music via Bluetooth. Press the Volume Down/Up buttons to adjust the volume. Beep tones will be heard when Volume Maximum or Minimum is reached.
Note: If the computer is looking for a Bluetooth driver, note that Creative Bluetooth speakers do not need any driver to operate. You may need to update the Bluetooth driver of your computer's built-in Bluetooth adapter or your USB dongle. To determine whether your computer or USB dongle is updated with the latest Bluetooth driver, please refer to their user's guide or website for information.

Does this come with AC adaptor?

Not per se, no.

It doesn't need an AC adaptor because it's built around having a 120-V AC power source.

It's got a power cord for plugging into a wall outlet, because that's the only power source it accepts.
