Question 1

I am planning on using this as a backup drive, and need to rotate drives out regularly. Are there additional carriers for more hard drives, or do I just purchase multiple of these? Thanks

I had the same question when I bought it. I could not locate extra carriers unless I bought it as part of the entire drive enclosure.

Apparently, I cannot include a link, so search for "cru-inc" to find the company's website.  I took a quick look, and I didn't see separate carriers, so I think you have to buy the whole enchilada.

It is good to have the enclosures because I do no think these are hot pluggable, so pulling a drive out under power may ruin the drive or the enclosure. It has been awhile since I used these. I don't use them at the moment because I was concerned with the heat build up on the larger drives. I don't think I ever found a size limit, but the capacity and higher speeds tend to run hotter. The 250 GB was to hot to handle when it had been in the drive for a while. I would take a good look at it and consider ventilating it a little better than the factory did it.

I am currently using a laptop and back up to an external drive, but at one point, I had about six different drives with different operating systems on it like WinXP, Win Vista, Win 7, and Linux. I also had images of all of the drives, so I could experiment without worry, and have the drive wiped with all zeros, and then restored in about a half hour each with 40 GB drives. I no longer do that anymore, but someday I may do it again, and these enclosures took care of business.

Question 2

Are there screw holes on the bottom of the enclosure to attach it to the chassis?  My server chassis can only screw in from the bottom.  Thanks!

There are holes in the plastic on the bottom that are lined up with the side mounting holes, but these bottom holes have no metal nut like the side ones. The mounting instructions make no mention of mounting from the bottom either. Sorry.
