Crucial is the company's name, and "crucial" is the type of location you'd want to put this rugged little beauty.
When they first made laptops, this is the kind of drive they would have killed for: light weight, low power, rugged (rated at 1500 Gs shock test) and reliable (one million hours mean time between failures (MTBF). Using the SATA II interface and the 2.5 inch form factor makes retrofitting this 32 GB solid state drive into a laptop a breeze. Nor is it limited to laptops: any system that needs to be physically rugged, or have a silent drive with low power requirements would be happy to get one of these.
So, check out the possibilities and satisfy yourself that this is the drive you want. We'll be here when you're ready.
SSD Storage TechnologyActing without any moving parts, the Crucial CT32GBFAB0 solid state drive (SSD) boasts multiple advanced features including zero mechanical noise, faster data rates compared to conventional HDDs, over 1-million-hour life span, ultra-low power consumption and impressive shock, vibration and extreme temperature resistance. With these breakthrough capabilities, the SSD meets all the demanding requirements for high-performance mobile computing.
2.5" Form FactorThe Crucial CT32GBFAB0 solid state drive is specifically designed for notebook computers equipped with a 2.5" SATA drive bay.

Pros: HD Tune 2.55 reports average ### 108.6 MB/sec reads ###, access time 0.4 ms, burst rate 43.1 MB/sec, CPU usage 10.0% in my HP2133 Mini-Note (1.2Ghz). Includes 5 year warranty. 32GB size is emough for XP SP2, applications and files. Static write leveling included - extends lifetime. Compatible SATA interface and dimensions as standard 2.5in hard disk. Uses less power (1/2) than normal drive.
Cons: SSD writes are typically slow, rated 60MB/sec sequential on this device vs 80MB/sec on the similar specifications OCZ SSD here at Newegg. This drive is expensive for only 32GB storage. The similar OCZ is cheaper, but has only 1 year warranty. For unknown reasons, the 64GB version of this drive is rated 30MB/sec writes. OCZ specs do not degrade at 64GB, but may not be correct. Check yourself, to be sure.
