The Ballistix line is specifically built for performance enthusiasts who want to push the performance envelope without worrying about data loss or corruption, mysterious intermittent errors and display problems, or worse, the dreaded BSOD! The Ballistix line of high-performance memory modules features advanced speed grades, low latencies, and integrated aluminum heat spreaders.
Pros: runs flawlessly, even after a couple of days straight of memtest86. though it is rated at 8-8-8-24-2T, if you run cpu-z, another SPD profile appears with timings 7-7-7-24-2T @ stock voltage. i ran the kit at these latencies on memtest for several hours more, with not one hiccup. haven't tried overclocking them yet, but right now i am happy with "under-latency-ing". absolutely rock-solid, best DDR3-1600 kit out there. gorgeous, understated orange and stainless color scheme, LOW profile.
Cons: i am racking my brain but i cannot think of a single bad thing to say about this RAM... cost, of course, put you pay for what you get. i must say, the similar-spec'ed OCZ SLi kit was a little tempting before i took the plunge on these. but i am extremely content with my decision.
Overall Review: There is a reason that this kit costs so much. fyi, there is one flat heat spreader on either side of each module - they are not even attached at the top. they are clinging to the RAM chips only. you would think the spreaders would be flimsy or that you should be very careful about applying pressure to the top of the modules as you insert them, but this is NOT at all the case. the spreaders hardly flex or bend at all - very solid. also fyi, rig is: Core i7 920 Thermalright Ultra 120 True Black JMC 120mm PWM fan Asus p6T Deluxe v.1 *this kit* LG GGC-H20LK 9800 GTX Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 9800 Seasonic M12 700W Lian Li PC-A05N Intel X25-M 80GB WD Caviar Black 1TB
