Will this work in a mid-2012 15" Macbook Pro?

I cannot answer that without knowing which Aspire 3 model you have. Most Memory manufactures have a compatibility selector. Go to Crucial's web page and select "upgrade my device", then follow the bouncing ball. NOTE - if you are adding memory, make sure the new memory is the same speed and clock rating - never mismatch memory - unpredictable things WILL HAPPEN.
