Speed demonThe Crucial m4 SSD builds on the success of the award-winning, wildly popular Crucial RealSSD C300 solid-state drive by offering mobile and desktop users scorching-fast read and write speeds, groundbreaking SATA SSD computing, and unparalleled performance for the dollar.
Latest and greatestDesigned for client computing, the Crucial m4 SSD delivers faster boot and application load times for mobile and desktop users alike. Low power, lightweight, and durable, it empowers high-speed synchronous MLC NAND, advanced controller technology, optimized NAND management, and the second-generation SATA 6Gb/s interface. Together, that technology dramatically improves data transfers for bandwidth-demanding applications.
Memory ExpertsDelivering on the highest quality based upon Micron's leading-edge NAND media, the Crucial brand of memory has long been synonymous with reliability and high-performance. And because Crucial is part of Micron, the m4 was bred and built entirely in-house. Micron’s expertise in NAND process technology enables them to optimize the performance and durability of Crucial solid-state drives.
Clear advantageSSDs provide many benefits over traditional hard drives. You’ll enjoy reduced power consumption and less heat generation. Because they have no moving parts, SSDs are quiet, more lightweight, and they’re rugged and reliable even in the most demanding operating environments or temperature extremes.
Guaranteed CompatibleCrucial m4 series employ a standard hard drive interface and dimensions, so it is an easy storage upgrade for most notebooks. Compatibility is guaranteed.
Adapter BracketCrucial m4 SSDs are not just for laptops anymore. A simple 3.5" adaptor bracket can easily and affordably turn your standard HDD drive bay into a Solid-State drive bay. The Crucial 3.5" Adapter Bracket lets you install your Crucial 2.5" Solid-State Drive into a standard 3.5" drive bay nearly any desktop system. This sturdy, metal, mounting bracket includes mounting screws for simple installation.

Pros: As with everyone, this little drive is a speed demon. On SATA II (300) I am getting around 268 mb read and around 180 write! It really smokes :D. With win7 on it and my music I have about 99 GB free and with other data on my Caviar Black 1TB this system flies! ESET smart security 5 scans all on a smart scan in roughly 45 seconds to a minute to scan
Cons: None. It feels like when I bought my raptor only 10x better :)
System:
Core i7 860 2.8ghz 1156
8 GB DDR3 crucial ballistix tracer 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65v
128 GB M4 SSD/1TB Caviar Black
EVGA GTX 570 GDDR5 1280 Mb
EVGA Micro P55 SLI
OCZ 700w XStream PSU
Thermaltake Lanbox mATX Case
Overall Review: Be sure to to install your drive as AHCI (check your bios and configure SATA) and install the latest intel chipset drivers! Also be sure update to firmware to 0309 and do that first then install like normal. Remember google is your friend. These drives also seem to loose performance when you turn off enable windows cache buffering in the drive options. Leave those alone and same with intel drives. Also for those that were confused (like myself) on the differences of part numbers with the one that had more reviews, this one includes a nice sexy bracket and is very well made. There all total of 3 128 GB: one with just the drive, this one with drive bracket and screws, and the other that includes a transfer kit with software. I recommend this one the bracket is flawless :D buy it !
Fast SSD and Great Tech Support3/3/2012 9:37:04 PM
Pros: I own 3 of these. All are used as C drives in PCs and a laptop. They are super fast. They are really light and run much cooler than the 3.5" spinning hard drives, which I use for data storage in the PCs.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: I was upgrading the firmware to 0309. One of the three M4s had a problem afterwards. I emailed Crucial's tech support, and got a reply within a couple of hours on a Saturday! They were very helpful, and guided me to attach the M4 to a Sata power cord for 20 min in a PC, stop and wait for 30 sec, and repeat 1 to 2 times. It worked. I am very impressed with Crucial's tech support.
Pros: Fast and quiet, like any SSD. This particular model came with a tray to adapt it to the 3.5" drive slots in my tower.
Cons: One has to update the firmware on the drive to get all the speed performance out of it.
Overall Review: At first the Windows scoring system for this drive ranked it at only a 6.1, not very much faster than my old SATA raid 0 setup. I upgraded the firmware and it jumped to 7.9. That is the only reason it does not get 5 stars.
Pros: - Boot time is noticeably faster than normal for Windows7 64-bit.
- Would be more useful if using intensive programs or if you have significant programs loading on startup.
Cons: - Performance increase in boot was noticeable, but in other applications the increase was not as apparent.
- Games didn't load much faster than previously on my system (as an example, in BF3 loading in before most people off of a 7200RPM HDD), it's a little faster, but not spectacular.
Overall Review: - O/S and game loaded directly onto the SSD
- Z68 board, but not using caching since OS is on the SSD
- O/S & programs were all on a non-RAID 1TB 7200RPM HDD previously
- I keep my O/S clean on its installs and programs on start up so the difference wasn't as noticeable once I was past the Windows loading screen

Overall Review: I had been waiting awhile to jump on the SSD bandwagon due to price and stability but I decided to get the Crucial M4 after a lot of reading and a Newegg sale. My XPS M1530 is a whole new animal now. Programs literally open instantly and boot up and restart speeds are in the 15 second range (used to take about 5 minutes!). This is the best upgrade I've made to my computer and was worth every sent. My average transfer speeds with my HDD were around 40 MB/s, the SSD is around 240 MB/s (SATA II connection)! Add this to your cart and checkout now! (This M4 128GB is the same as the other listed but this one includes a 3.5" adapter)

Overall Review: Currently running in Raid 0 after getting a second one from newegg. No problems or headaches running in raid with the motherboard below. No more mechanical harddrives for me again.

Pros: After extensive research I went with this SSD. It's performance is widely known, the controller is solid and it's backed by crucial.
Do make sure to update to the latest firmware when you get it, it only takes a few minutes and resolves an issue they were having.
Cons: None
Overall Review: First time with an SSD, the difference is astonishing, I can restart the PC and be in windows and ready to use within 10 seconds.
