Did this product came w/ the SATA cable? Or did you have buy it separately? Thank you.

Hi I bought and really Like my new Crucial MX200 1TB and 500GB as well. No these drives do not come with the SATA cable. What you see in the Photo posted is what you get. You get a small manual and a Key for the imaging software as well. Its a great drive. I have had it for a few months in too different Computers. It has been detected without any driver support fine under Vista and now Windows 10.

Does it mount vertically, as well as horizontally?

You can mount a solid state drive in any direction you want. Vertically, horizontal, upside down, it doesn't matter, there's no moving parts.

Question 3

will this fit into my mac pro computer. not the macbook, the old fashioned huge floor / desktop computer 2009. has internal sata connectors for 4 drives. At present has four had drives in its bays. do i need an adaptor? is a 2.5 inch going to fit. seems small.

I'm not at home atm to look up the exact name of what I have and tell you.  But this did fit into exactly where I had my previous, larger, harddrive.  It comes with a plastic adapter-tray & some very small screws to secure it in there.  Just be gentle, it's easy to over-torque the screws while securing it into the adapter (luckily mine stays in there with just 3 of the 4).

I have a very large Coolermaster Tower for a gaming PC setup fyi.  I am not familiar with Macbooks.  But if your concern is that this will be too small, I would not think that it will cause a problem due to the adapter.

Question 4

I'm considering using this drive to replace the hard drive in my ThinkPad T520, running Windows 7. I have no experience doing this kind of upgrade and I'm concerned about having the correct pieces to fit the SSD into the storage space. I already have all my whole system backed up and I expect to load my system onto the new drive after installation.

Are there other considerations that I need to be aware of going forward?

I have used this drive in Dell laptops - it is an easy fit.

I found assembly videos on YouTube that were very helpful.
Laptops are not nearly as easy to figure out as desktops.
DO watch the videos and pause at each step.

OK - There is ONE CONSIDERATION if you have no experience with assembling laptops:

The tiny ribbon cables on my dell are held in place with a latch.
(Not sure about your ThinkPad, but I expect the same)

I broke a laptop before when I thought the tiny ribbon cables had plugs on the end of the cable like desktop cables do - I pulled and pulled and broke the latch on the laptop motherboard - OOPS!

I should have watched the videos very carefully to see how to disconnect the ribbon cables.

Will it burn up my battery?
How much heat will it produce?
Crucial built this drive, shouldn't they know?
The power ratings in the ad are incomplete and deceptive 
Buy at your own risk?.

Uses far less than any mechanical drive. Also far less heat. You're asking an irrelevant question. You should probably not touch your computer if you are worried about such things.

It really matter that what version of the mac book you have, go to crucial dot com and run the crucial system scanner which will scan your macbook and give you the compatible choices. Anyway if you have a fairly new mac book from few years back you may not be able to use this unit.

I have an older MacBook Pro 17", That is running out of room on the hdd, and wasthinking about replaceing with this drive?? Will it work in my older MAC BOok PRO

Don't waste your money. Crucial is unable to list power usage data. Maybe they are incompetent or are just trying to dump crappy drives that failed Quality checks. I would wait to see the specs on new stock. End of year stock with key specifications missing and rebates, sounds like the are trying to dump their crap on us.
