How do you apply this stuff? Some people say a pea dot, some say a thin line.

A pea size amount in the middle of your CPU is fine. Testing was done by Linus which determined application method of thermal compound made no difference regarding CPU temo. You would have to put too much (quarter size amount or more) or too little (half a pea) for CPU temp to be impacted.

Can J use this thermal paste also for my GPU?

If you are replacing the stock thermal paste of your GPU, then yes you can.
