GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-D3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-D3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I have at least 25 builds to my credit in the last 10 years (friends & family). This my third Gigabyte board for my personal use and is working as advertised. The other two builds 2006 & 2009 are still going strong with daily use. I have had problems with the boards from one of the other big outfits that were short lived and buggy. Watch out for boards with cheap capacitors, the board they will likely die young. These are heavy duty boards. I won't buy anything else at this point.

Cons: Had to RMA the first one I received as it had a bent pin on the CPU socket. Newegg as usual came thru.

Overall Review: I highly recommend that you keep all packaging when you purchase hardware at least until the warranty has expired. This is only common sense.

GIGABYTE GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card GV-N450OC-1GI
GIGABYTE GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card GV-N450OC-1GI

Pros: I have been using Gigabyte hardware for several years and have had good luck until now.

Cons: Started giving me artifacts right from the start. I tried everything I could think, no luck. I have never had a bad video card before so I wasn't sure if it was maybe a driver issue. I am pretty sure now the card was defective. Newegg as usual took good care of me and gave a complete refund. Bought a 9800GT and it works great.

decent monitor, Samsung quality

SAMSUNG S27E310H Black 27" 1ms HDMI Widescreen LCD/LED Monitor, 300 cd/m2 DCR Mega Infinity (1000:1), D-Sub HDMI
SAMSUNG S27E310H Black 27" 1ms HDMI Widescreen LCD/LED Monitor, 300 cd/m2 DCR Mega Infinity (1000:1), D-Sub HDMI

Pros: First let me say I own several Samsung TVs and monitors they have been reliable and good performers. This was purchased for a dedicated Flight Sim rig (FSX). It is a decent performer with lots of options.

Cons: When I first set this up I was so disappointed I was considering sending it back. With the default settings it is too bright and without much contrast not sure why anyone would use it this way. It took me three days off and on to get it to look like what I consider a normal out of the box monitor. Maneuvering thru the set up menus is a pain. Don't care for the power brick would rather have a built in power supply with a normal power cord.

Overall Review: This may save anyone with this monitor some time. I finally tried the Cinema mode in the "Magic Bright" configuration. With the brightness set at around 50% (the contrast is preset in this mode) the display looks as it should to me.

good deal

Logitech Recertified 910-001799 M570 Black 5-button 1-wheel USB RF Wireless Laser Trackball
Logitech Recertified 910-001799 M570 Black 5-button 1-wheel USB RF Wireless Laser Trackball

Pros: Works as I expected once I got it to work.

Cons: Would not work until I installed the Logitech Unifying Software that I downloaded from Logitech support. I tried it on two of my PCs (windows 7). Glad I tried the software before I sent it back. I have a wired Logitech Trackman wheel that going strong after many years. Too bad they don't make it anymore far superior.

ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro - Compact Multi-Compatible Tower CPU Cooler | 92 mm PWM Fan | for AMD AM4 and Intel 115x CPU | Recommended up to 115 W TDP
ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro - Compact Multi-Compatible Tower CPU Cooler | 92 mm PWM Fan | for AMD AM4 and Intel 115x CPU | Recommended up to 115 W TDP

Pros: This is my third Arctic Freezer over the last six or seven years. This model was the easiest to install so far. I remember the first model I owned required a lot of force to get the push pins to engage. This one was way easier. My I7 4077-K runs in the low 40s under load. Very quiet and the fans is just loafing most of the time. I got it on sale for $25.00. a little steep at $40.00.

Cons: The instructions are a little cryptic. I had to do some research to feel comfortable on how tight to make the cooler retention screws.

Overall Review: Be careful when you unpack this think as the protective cover over the pre installed thermal grease will fall off. I stuck my finger in it first thing.

Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Great box ! This is as far as I am concerned all you need in a computer case. It has plenty of room and great cooling. I am running three fans the two that came with it and I added a side fan. Just moved my old built out and my new build in. My I7 4770-K runs in the low 40s under load (70 F ambient) using a Arctic Freezer 7 CPU cooler. I have my case fans on med. speed. Quiet and cool what more could you ask for. The price is right. I would rather put my money into the contents of the box. Some of the other cases available have pretty outrageous styling. If you were driving one of them on the boulevard the vice cops would probably pull you over and run you for warrants.

Cons: none

missing power supply

This item was missing the AC power supply . I contacted the seller but have not received a response (5 business days). It also took seven business days to be delivered. I could have got this item for five dollars more from another seller and it would have been delivered in a couple of days.
