Great for Ethernet Extension unreliable for Music

Pros: I got 25 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload at all locations with hardly any variation at all at each location. These speeds are identical to the values I get with a direct ethernet connection to my Router. Therefore, I conclude that the Netgear Powerline is fully capable of delivering maximum internet access speeds in my house. Subsequently, I have confirmed the Second day speeds results. I tested the USB storage with a USB Flashdrive. Copyng files worked but was very slow.
Cons: I was unable to successfully setup the MusicShare to stream media from my Android Tablet. E-mail request for help was never answered. The recommended software was not clearly identified in the instructions. When I managed to find it (Twonky Beam) and it appeared to connect but, it failed to stream any music. MusicShare and USB-storage on a Flashdrive worked from WinXP notebook, but failed to work from a WinXP-64bit machine. Software installed ok, and looked correct but I could not see the audio device plugged into the XAU2511 unit. I upgraded the firmware, but to no avail. Same problem when I tested with Windows 7 64bit computer. Everything checks out ok, but no audio device detection. Instructions are very poor (not unusual for computer gadgets) but inexcusable. It's been over 8 days and I still have not received a tech support reply to my question from Netgear.
Overall Review: Tested using a notebook running Windows XP by browsing to ww.speedtest.net to measure bandwith at various distances from Router I plugged XAV1601 (shorter unit without USB) to an AC outlet next to My Router on the 1st floor of my house and connected with an ethernet cable to my Router, then tested with the XAU2511 (larger unit with USB) connected to an AC outlet at a different location: 1 1st floor 2 2nd floor 3 3rd floor (Attic) 4 Basement It takes a minute or less for the Power LED (top) and Powerline LED (bottom) to stabilize. The Powerline LED first turns Green (> 80Mbps), but then it always changed to Amber (50-80Mbps) on the first day of the tests, but went to green on the subsequent day of testing. Because these speed tests vary somewhat with time of day I took multiple several (2-3) readings at each location, an then repeated them 5 days later, with the same results. The ethernet connection via Powerline is excellent and very fast, much better than similar products I have tested in the past either from Netgear or other companies. However, the Readyshare, worked once, then it failed to work on another computer (WinXP 64 bit), updating the firmware did not help. It also failed to work on Win 7 64bit computer in exactly the same way. The Netgear Powerline Utility shows all connections are fine -gives IP address etc. and you can then browse to that address and do firmware update, set Static IP address etc. But when you run the Netgear USB Control Center the remote unit shows up fine but it never shows the powered amplifier speaker (the way it did when it worked on the WinXP machine first time. Subsequently, it no longer works even on that machine.
Shuttle Warranty Support Worst

Pros: This is an excellent machine. Quiet fast, good looking. I have built over 5 of these (over 25 other Shuttle models). Rarely they break down -one did 3 days after setup-no video, fan full blast - means something vital died on motherboard. Other unit ordered at same time is fine 2 weeks later
Cons: I filled out form on Shuttle web page to get RMA. 8 days later still no response, even after I complained by telephone. They found my note and "sent it to Shuttle Main office. That was 2 days ago. I already purchased another unit moved HD, RAM to new unit and that works fine. Now I'm waiting for Shuttle to give me an RMA so I can ship it for exchange
Overall Review: While Neweg was doing RMA replacements this got done quickly w little time wasted. Now that you must deal w Shuttle - it's unbelievable. DO NOT BUY Shuttle machines if you must rely on them to do the RMA's. Terrible way to run a company. Too bad the units are very good and they rarely fail but when they do...
Serious Bug in the Program

Pros: When it works it is pretty good.
Cons: Depreciation Information input via the interview was transferred to the IRS forms incorrectly so that the form read (Other rather than iPad Pro and the cost was 888 instead of 868) Tech support suggests re-loading the program. In fact, after wasting tons of time I was able to get around it by deleting the input both in the interview and on the form. Prior to the full workaround the initial Accuracy Check passed without error, but the Accuracy check prior to e-Filing once again showed the same error. H&R Block refused to refund the program cost, suggesting I ask for the refund from NewEgg, totally ridiculous because no seller refunds software once it has been used.
Overall Review: H&R Block does not much care for it's customers. However, the competitor is just as bad. So, what are you going to do?
Excellent Computer at a great price

Pros: The one I got was in tip top shape, even cosmetically. Win 10 is not too bad if you use Classic Shell to make it more like Win 7 and avoid all the stupidities of the Win 10 interface. It's very powerful and finished Acronis Image backup at least 2x faster than I have ever seen and compressed the resulting image far smaller than 50% which is the usual amount. The SAS HD is also very fast, though a bit noisy and runs hotter than I would like. If you have not seen one of these workstations be prepared to be amazed because they are built like a tank. Everything is enclosed for optimal air cooling. There are at least 5-7 special fans aimed at RAM, and other parts in addition to the amazing CPU cooling system. The power supply is a unit that simply slides in and out of place -no connector cables. The HD mounting is also without any external cabling - all of the connection are already made at the bottom of the HD section. HD can be rapidly mounted in special carriers (all included) which then allow you to slide the HD into place. Added Later: I have now ordered another two of the same models and all have arrived in excellent shape. Updated Win Security, installed my own security etc. and they are working just as fine as the first one I ordered.
Cons: The computer ships with Win 10 -original version which takes 6-8 hrs to update over the incredibly slow MS Windows connection. Since the Refurbisher hopes to sell a lot of these they could easily update a reference system and then image the new machines.
Overall Review: I repair, upgrade, and build computers as a profession and I highly recommend this refurb HP Z820 from Surplus Products - but I can't speak for refurbs from other companies.
Excellent HP Workstation Computer(s)

Pros: Great construction solid, well designed hardware. Room for 2 additional 3.5 " HD's using included carriers. Room for another drive with optional carrier. Quadro NVS290 card comes with adapter with two DVI connectors, and there is room for another PCIe video card. The included SSD is a first rate Samsung drive.
Cons: Compatible RAM (Registered) is more expensive, but more reliable than ordinary desktop RAM
Overall Review: I got A-Tech 32 Gb Registered PC3-12800 RAM kit (4 x 8Gb), but to get it to work had to remove the existing 2 x 4 Gb RAM, since using the the old and new was not possible. Since I got 2 computers, I simply moved the included RAM to the 2nd machine which worked out fine since that one was more than adequate with 16Gb total RAM.
Excellent 4K monitor at a Bargain Price

Pros: This monitor produces super clear images and has great color. I have not calibrated it yet, for photographic accuracy, but even that task should be easier than with other monitors, because software is provided for making adjustments with a mouse, rather than pressing the button(s) on the monitor itself. Also, too many monitors have horrible ergonomics with respect to buttons to control brightness, contrast, etc. but this one has a single joystick control at the bottom of the frame. You can press, and or tilt in all four directions to access the menu that pops up, which I've never seen this on any other brand of monitor. This joystick control is tons better than the traditional one where the labels are impossible to read without a flashlight. I can't speak to the long term reliability because I've only had it for about a week.
Cons: None, that I've come across so far.
Overall Review: I can't speak to the long term reliability because I've only had it for about a week.
Refurb computer arrived in good shape as advertised
This Mac 2007 is terrifically solid and weighs more than any computer I have ever lifted (in over 30 yrs). It comes with an older version of Mac OSX, and is one of the first Intel based machines. On bootup it goes through a completely new user configuration (5 minutes or less) and then it works fine. Research shows that it should work with the El Capitain OS, which I will try, just so that I can run the latest programs, and utilities. Keep in mind that the HD interface is 3 Mbps (rather than 6 on newer machines), and that it uses DDR3 RAM, but nevertheless Youtube HD Videos run at a nice clip. The unit as described does not include keyboard or mouse, soI ordered a refurbished Logitech Mac keyboard (uses solar panels to obviate need for batteries) which works great, and I use a 3 button PC mouse which works far better than the single button Mac (dumb) mouse. The price is very good since it includes 16Gb RAM and a 1TB HD.
Not recommended
Failed to deliver ordered item in a reasonable time. When I called, phone was either busy, or when I got through and selected the department no one was available to answer the phone. Another alternative was to type 0 for the operator. When I did that there was no one there. The only viable choice was to leave a message which I did, but whether anyone will reply to that is unclear.
