Most Critical Review

Nice unit for 2 hours

BUFFALO TeraStation ES 4-Bay 12 TB (4 x 3 TB) RAID Network Attached Storage (NAS) - TS-XE12TL/R5
BUFFALO TeraStation ES 4-Bay 12 TB (4 x 3 TB) RAID Network Attached Storage (NAS) - TS-XE12TL/R5

Pros: Small 4 bays supports Raid 0, 1, 5, 10. Web interface is nice. I am sure if the drives were good this unit would have done great. When a drive fails it surely lets you know with alarm sound and blinking red led and led display turns red.

Cons: drive 4 failed after the first 2 hours of use. I had not even had time to put data on it yet. I just got done configuring raid 5 with hot spare and setting up the web interface and poof. the spare drive croaks and clicks. I don't think there is much of a point to the key lock. It looks easily breakable.

Not what its cracked up to be

M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface 4-In-4-Out Professional Audio Card with MIDI
M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface 4-In-4-Out Professional Audio Card with MIDI

Pros: nice RCA jacks on back of card. Looks like for 2 channel audio it will do the trick.

Cons: Looks are deceiving; I have found that all my audio samples from my turn table are filled with digital burps. I have tried numerous setting adjusting the buffer and the sample rate. It gets better as I lower the sample rate but it still is not up to par. Also if you need to be able to adjust your line level input recording volume you are going to need to invest in a decent pre-amp. User manual is written based on a very old driver set. They still have 98 and NT install instructions. I am running the latest driver download from they're website and still getting all kinds of noise.

Overall Review: My intention for this card was to use it to convert my vinyl LPs to MP3s. I hate to say it but my cheap ESS did a better job of sampling the audio than this card did. I have a pretty serious turntable and really nice vintage Marantz receiver. When it comes to transferring vinyl you want to get the audio right the first time. Before my old Sound blaster Audigy card died it did a great job. It was an early value version. I am going to be sending this audiophile card back. Where I will look next I am not exactly sure.

Junk!

Pros: look else where this was a dud right out of the box. A big hunk of burning junk!

Cons: Junk Junk! You will be sorry if you purchase this. I am just glad my drive worked in my laptop after this device failed me!
