Fantastic - Seamless
Pros: Works as advertised - using with LSI-9260 controller - no issues whatsoever. Remember this is NOT a controller!!!!
Cons: None
Overall Review: Don't bother getting the high port count controllers - going with the 4i version of the LSI controller and adding this card will future proof your setup.
Get coffee and prepare the spend time with this thing....
Pros: A lot of functionality - just need to spend time with this thing up front. There's a lot of proprietary features if you are dead set on playing with OC ....
Cons: * SATA II and SATA III mixutre. Annoying. you CAN'T use both raid controllers at same time !! has * marvell and intel RST. I find this portion of the design Frankenstein-like and ridiculous. I don't think this is necessarily a gigabyte thing so do your research. * Intel RST SSD acceleration buggy - just get yourself a large capacity SSD if that's your thing and forget all this caching nonsense. * Make sure you put your DVD SATA cable in port 0 and change bios settings to EFI boot or you won't get your > 2TB functionality. * Limited BIOS memory - causes conflicts with a variety of PCIe add-ons and the WILL NOT FUNCTION right or at all....
Overall Review: If I had to do it all over again I would go with a different consumer mobo - didn't have all these issues in past with ASUS boards
Throw that Gigabyte away!!!
Pros: If I had even 1/2 the time i spent fooling around with the gigabyte z68 mb i'd have time for a vacation. what a refreshing upgrade for my i5-2500k. like a new pc again!
Cons: None
runs hot with flaky heat sink
Pros: functionality good - performance also good
Cons: runs hot - and heat sink barely hangs on - worried the thing will fall off. it is NOT factory bound to the card. what's up with that design? Also as another person said the software is complete junk.
Overall Review: this is my first adaptec - using lsi's for years - think i'll go back next time.
Good Board - Terrible documentation
Pros: Good solid board - easy install after you figure out what is where (see below) - especially if you have a supermicro case. If you want a board that is solid that does without all the fancy add-ons from other vendors this is a good pick.
Cons: Horrible documentation. Be prepared to do alot of investigation but once you're done you'll be happy.
Overall Review: would buy again
