Question 1

What are the mounting options for this camera? I don't see many holes for screws in the base from the pictures provided. Also, what is the swivel ability of the camera itself when mounting to a wall?

The mounting base has 2 holes that are covered by a white base cover as seen in the picture.  The mounting shaft actually threads into the base (that has the screw holes) and this holds the cover in place.  The camera swivels on shaft base mount but is somewhat limited.  I had it mounted under the eves on my house and had to mount the base instead on the sidewall in order to get more range of swivel to accommodate the angle I needed to cover.  If your mounting location is flexible, the range of swivel should be fine.

How is the audio?  Can you carry on a conversation with someone in front of the camera?

Question 3

Want camera as dual purpose for surveillance but also want to provide feed to my business website for weather conditions etc. Does dlink software easy to send feed to a site?

It is possible to embed a stream with a D-Link camera but I believe its pretty clunky to do. You would probably be much better off with a DropCam Pro. They have an easy way to share your camera stream. The only possible downside is that it only does cloud recording which requires a subscription.

Question 4

1. I will be installing this camera on a detached garage. Can I hard wire or does it have to be attached to a AC switch? I assme the camera requires AC?
2. It can go down to -40 degrees (F) in the winter. Would it survive?
3. I will be utilizing the camera remotely (300 miles away) from my Laptop and smartphone. How has this been for those monitoring their property?

1. The power is supplied through a power adapter that needs to be plugged into an outlet.
2. The low-end operating temperature for the camera is -13 degree F. Mine still worked when it was -15 degrees F. If the ambient temperature falls below the operating temperature, the camera will stop working but will resume operation when the temperature rises to -13 degrees F. There are other cameras made for very low temperatures, but they are VERY expensive.
3. As long as you have internet access, it doesn't matter how far away you are.

Question 5

Hello, I have three questions. First, how much bandwidth does a single camera take? Second, can I view the feed from the camera on my internal network (going to the camera's IP maybe) instead of remote viewing from the web? And finally, can I have three cameras of the same model online and accessible at the same time?

Question 6

What are the temp ranges on these? My outdoor Foscams did not handle winter well at all.

well I live in Florida, so they never get too cold, and I got them so recently they have not been through a "winter" yet either.
Being that they are at least IP67 rated, they should do pretty well, but never getting really "cold" I can not honestly tell you.

Question 7

As I understand it, this camera plugs into a standard electrical outlet.  If the camera were online, and someone unauthorized were to unplug the camera from power, would I receive any type of notification from the myd-link cloud service that I'd lost a security camera?

I have not ever received such a notice, and I unplug regularly to hard reset (not because it locks up...it never has, just my practice). I even have them reboot every night (takes about 15 seconds) and still no notices for that either.

Question 8

How long is the power cable that comes with the camera? Has anybody had experience running the cable through walls?

The power cable is 10' long. It is not necessary to cut the cable to pass thru a wall. If have not found any documentation on the power cable, but discovered that if you remove the two rubber plugs on the back of the camera (above where the cable goes into the camera) you will find two screws to remove the cover. You can unplug the cable from the camera and then only make a small hole in the wall to pass the cable through.

1. Does the motion sensor work through glass, if installed inside looking out through window?
2. Does recording only work when motion sensed or does it record until full?

Accepted Answer

The camera will look through glass in the day mode with no problem, however, in the night mode, the IR lights will reflect a glare on the glass back to the camera and the only thing you see then is white out blur (this is true of any IR camera I've used).
You can set the camera to record on motion only (or record on sound) or record all the time according to a schedule you set. If using an SD card, you can set the recording option to overwrite previous files (oldest files first) so you can continue to use the SD card.

Macintosh OSX capable?

Yes. There is Mac OS compatible software to configure the camera, then you can use your internet browser to control it remotely using the DLink cloud website.
