Does this camera need 3rd party surveillance software to operate it and to record events on a local hard-drive, or does it ship with the needed software?

Once connected to internet & power and setup to your "MyDlink" account, you can watch LIVE from any computer (Home or Away) and by downloading their app to your phone/ipad you can watch LIVE too. Only cost is to Purchase a Camera or Multiple Cameras if you wish.

Additionally by purchasing Dlinks NVR you can have LIVE FEED Recording via your home network. Free Software for your computer via Dlink can operate this feature. To go further you can purchase a 3rd party offsite cloud service to back-up your NVR for added security.

what is the extend of this camera , how far it works ?
in meters ?
in another way , how many meters can  this cam support a good view ???

I have this installed looking at my side garage doors and I can see across the street to my neighbors house about 125ft (38meters) I can see the color of the kids baseball hat.
