SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model SH-S203N LightScribe Support

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, fast, fairly quite, LightScribe, SATA

Cons: So far, none I can find.

Overall Review: Although not silent, I was surprised how quite it actually is. It's close to my Plextor PX 716 and far quieter than my AO and LG burners. It also rips DVD's faster than any of my other burners and burns' em fast too. SATA may have nothing to do with the speed, but it makes installation a breeze, cleans up wiring and aids airflow. It came with Nero, but I did not install the programs, preferring to use my own. I am using LightScribe Template Labeler from the LightScribe site and recommend it highly. The quality of the burns and labeling are great. I'm very pleased. Also, any electronic device can fail. I did a lot of checking and it seems these have a lower failure rate than many other burners I was looking at.

WOW

ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 20000:1 (1000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: Big screen, no dead Pixels, great color and sharpness.

Cons: At this price ($170.00 free ship), none.

Overall Review: The biggest issue I have is now my other monitors look small and anemic.

Great deal!

Overall Review: At these prices it's almost disposable. I was pleased and surprised to see it came with the latest firmware.

Great product

Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2255 Dual TV Tuner / Encoder
Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2255 Dual TV Tuner / Encoder

Pros: Great performance, 4 tuners (Media Center recognizes it as 4 tuners, 2 NTSC and 2 ClearQAM) and works great with Windows 7.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I bought this to replace my WinTV-PVR 150 because I switched to Windows 7 64 bit, with 4 gigs RAM.. The 150 doesmt work if you use 4 gigs of RAM. This card gets better reception plus it is picking up channels on ClearQAM I didn't know were available. I also discovered my remote from my 150 works with this card.

Hard to beat

Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2255 Dual TV Tuner / Encoder
Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2255 Dual TV Tuner / Encoder

Pros: Great performance, runs cool, runs quiet and it's priced right.

Cons: None yet.

Overall Review: This is my second 640 Black and third WD (640 Blue). I began buying them after the Seagate firmware fiasco and I don't plan to go back. One of the things I look for in a product is how the company handles problems. I haven't had to see how WD handles this yet but I know how Seagate does.

Terrific product

Rosewill RX35-AT-SU BLK Aluminum 3.5" Black SATA USB 2.0 External Enclosure
Rosewill RX35-AT-SU BLK Aluminum 3.5" Black SATA USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: Well made, looks good, great attention to detail, it even feels expensive. Its the little details that count, like the padding and no-slip material in the stand, counter sunk screws and solid feel of the unit.

Cons: Can't think of one.

Overall Review: I've spent more and received considerably less on other products like this. If you can get it with free shipping it's the best deal out there. Reality check: Don't expect this or any other aluminum case to work as a heat sink for your drive. You would need far more physical contact with the HD than any case can provide to actually work as a heat sink. If you want to run your external drive all the time, spend a few more bucks and get a case with a fan.
