It should be irrelevant which operating system you use as long as you have a USB port you should be able to use it anywhere you have an outlet. It's solid and hasn't failed me yet.

Question 2

I put a WD Green 3 TB drive in here and it showed up in Windows 8 as a 2 TB drive (2047.88 GB) and a 746.39 GB drive.  Anyone know if it can get recognized as a single drive?  If not, will I have problems trying to format both "drives" (it's a single physical drive)?

PCWorld has an article about this called "Everything You Need to Know About 3TB Hard Drives" that you should read. Basically, some enclosures have a 32bit architecture that only allows up to 2.2TB (2^32*512). I bought this, had the same problem (2.2tb and 800gb on mac) and thankfully had a 2TB to put in there so I could still use the enclosure, but now I'm in the market for a 64bit enclosure. There's no good way to combine the two that show up into one. Good luck, brother.

I have a Seagate Baracuda 7200.7 hd. Model is ST380013AS. Will this fit in this enclosure?

I likely will fit fine but remember, it is only USB 2.0.  You have a fast drive that will only be as fast as USB 2.0.  For a little more you can get a 3.0 enclosure and be as fast as you drive ca go...

Question 4

I have a 3.5 hard drive from a former computer that I'd like to use as an external drive.  I was told if I got an "encasement for it," I could then connect it to my computer and use it.  I need to find a case and the connection cords that will allow me to do that.  Is that what this is?

Precisely. Although, enclosure is the word, not encasement, technically.

These enclosures, in my experience, are cheap and reliable. They are fast enough for almost anything you might use it for, but not the cutting-edge fastest (USB 3.0 enclosures are theoretically faster). The only limitation that ever forced me to use a different enclosure is that these seem to only work with drives up to 2 TB (2000 GB approximately) of capacity.

Anyway, you just snap the drive in to the enclosure's connector, put in the screws to assemble the case, plug in power, attach USB, and use it just like a flash drive.

Robert,

The enclosure is a SATA interface type.  You didn't provide enough description of the Seagate drive to provide a positive answer as the drive may be either a SATA or ATA configuration depending on exact model.  Only one that is a true SATA will work.

Can I use this for my ps3?

I don't own a PS3 so I can't say yes or no but I can tell you that it will work if the PS3 has a drive that can be extracted from the unit and fits into the silver casing of the Rosewill RX35-AT-SU.  I was able to pull data off multiple drive that were from PCs and Laptops.  Sorry I don't know the PS3 well enough to know if you can detach the drive and insert it in the Rosewill casing to read the drive.

I took a 500 gb drive out of an old Windows 7 machine that the motherboard died on and hooked it up to this enclosure. I use it to back up data. A little slower than the latest greatest but I'm not in hurry on backup data. Just let it run until it's done.

It will fit all standard size internal HD. It will even take a small laptop HD if you need it to.

Question 10

After replacing a couple drives, the heads of the silver screws mounting the HDD to the tray have stripped and I can no longer use them. Are there specs anywhere to get replacement screws?

The screws are probably Metric, size M3 or M4.  If that ain't right, then maybe English size 4-40.  An eyeball comparison should show you which size it is.
