Lenovo ThinkCentre M82 Intel i5 Quad Core 3200 MHz 250Gig 4096MB DVD ROM Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit Desktop Computer
Lenovo ThinkCentre M82 Intel i5 Quad Core 3200 MHz 250Gig 4096MB DVD ROM Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit Desktop Computer

Pros: Computer is as specified hardware-wise (mostly). The unit I received came with a single stick of crucial 8gb ddr3-1600 instead of the 4gb specified. The i5-3470 runs cool and fast after repaste (see cons). Came with an inexpensive keyboard and mouse, which will likely go in the stockpile for a future date.

Cons: I'm not exactly sure how the grading is scaled for refurbished items, but as far as "Grade A" goes, I am a little bit disappointed. The unit is missing feet and was rather scratched, which I can deal with. What I take more of an issue with is the fact It arrived with one I/O shield bouncing around the inside of the case, as well as the CPU heatsink only being secured by 2 of the 4 screws. I removed the heatsink, cleaned with rubbing alcohol, and repasted. Results are good.

Overall Review: I wouldn't recommend this item to anybody not familiar with computer hardware. Had I turned this on without looking into it beforehand, it likely would have shorted out or overheated and been an expensive paperweight. I understand this sort of thing can happen in shipping, but the exterior box was immaculate and the unit was secure inside of it. I bought this to replace an aging i7-870 which was running dedicated game servers. After some work, I am very happy with the results and am satisfied with this purchase for the money. The unit has 4 RAM slots and accepted 32gb of ddr3-1600 ram without issue.

Good for Everyday Light Use

ASUS UX50 Series 15.6" Intel Core 2 Solo ULV SU3500 4GB Memory Windows Vista Home Premium UX50V-RX05

Pros: Very good looking laptop, runs quiet and cool, full keypad, expressgate OS for quickly booting to web. Able to play 720p flash videos through HDMI. Plays L4D2, CSS, HL2, and Guild Wars (~30fps maxed settings 1366x768).

Cons: Keyboard flex is not bad, but is noticeable. The keyboard backlight is non-functioning in the unit that was shipped to me. One stick of RAM was not properly installed, resulting in only 2GB being usable, which was solved by opening it up and re-seating the ram correctly. The RAM was locked into place, but the contacts were not seated into the socket. This did not likely happen in shipping and is more likely poor QC on ASUS' part. The RAM in this unit is not easily accessed. In order to gain access to the ram, the keyboard and screen need to be removed (since the screen is connected to the chassis surrounding the keyboard) in order to gain access to the motherboard, which also needs to be completely removed since the ram is located on the bottom side of the laptop. A simple panel on the bottom could have turned removing more than 20 screws into removing two.

Overall Review: Don't purchase this laptop if you are looking to update to the latest NVIDIA drivers as Hybrid SLI is no longer supported. The only video driver I was able to use was the driver provided on ASUS' website. Changing from the NVIDIA card to the integrated Intel card was a bit choppy, but never resulted in a crash. There is no possible way to disable the integrated Intel graphics card and use only the NVIDIA from the BIOS. Updating to any driver other than the ones provided by ASUS resulted in the NVIDIA chipset being disabled because it "reported problems." This is a good laptop for anybody who is a casual user. If you plan on checking facebook, email, playing an older computer game, or playing a flash game, this computer is great. In case anybody is interested, I was able to use the G105M CUDA capability for seti@home.

Exactly What I Expected

Apple iPad Air WiFi 16GB iOS 7 9.7" Tablet - MD785LL/A - Space Gray
Apple iPad Air WiFi 16GB iOS 7 9.7" Tablet - MD785LL/A - Space Gray

Pros: It's a first generation iPad Air. Because it's a refurbished item, I did not expect it to be immaculate. The screen has some minor scratches that are only visible when the screen is off or if you're looking at it with a bad glare. Bought this to supplement another iPad Air we have which the kids constantly fight over. Best $150 I've spent in a while. Came with an apple charger and a vivitar lightning cable that works just fine.

Cons: No cons in particular. Refurbished, so not docking any eggs for minor wear and tear.

Overall Review: Shipped quickly and free. Thank you Altatac!

Initial Impressions - Nice Laptop, But Mother of Maintenence Nightmares...

ASUS K570UD-ES54 15.6" FHD GeForce GTX 1050 Core i5-8250U 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD Windows 10 Home Gaming Laptop With Fingerprint Reader and Backlit Keyboard
ASUS K570UD-ES54 15.6" FHD GeForce GTX 1050 Core i5-8250U 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD Windows 10 Home Gaming Laptop With Fingerprint Reader and Backlit Keyboard

Pros: Exactly as specified. Laptop has a decent, albeit cheap-ish feeling keyboard, decent trackpad... basically exactly what I would expect at 680. Screen is an 8-bit panel with mediocre color reproduction and a bit of noticeable grain at an angle... but I digress... 680.

Cons: Moderate thermal throttling under CPU / GPU load. Noticed during updates it was maintaining its 3.4ghz boost clocks as expected with around 50-60% CPU usage, albeit at around 90C+ temperatures. Playing Guild Wars 2 resulted in a CPU bottleneck in high population areas, mostly due to thermal throttling / the nature of an MMO. That being said, it runs significantly faster than a Ryzen 5 2500u laptop I purchased not all too long ago. If you are looking to upgrade the unit, do not expect it to be a simple task. The motherboard is mounted into the bottom-most portion of the laptop. Upgrading the RAM required removing the screen, heatsink fan, wifi module, and 4 ribbon cables. An access door would have been nice considering the RAM is located on the bottom of the unit after all is said and done. The SSD on the i5-8250u model is a M.2 SATA SSD with one of those annoying warranty stickers attached to the mounting screw (again, on the bottom side of the motherboard with the RAM). The 2.5" bay comes with the mounting tray, though you will need to have the proper screws to mount a drive to it.

Overall Review: Overall, I feel I will be happy with this laptop despite its quirks. The thermal throttling for my purposes is very minimal. I plan to use it mostly for coding with some light gaming as time permits. This is not my primary gaming machine, though it does have some gaming chops considering the price / size. The workload this will mostly be seeing is single core / single threaded, so I do not expect thermal throttling to be an issue. I have not used an MX150 laptop, which is much more common with this CPU, but I am hoping this was a wise choice and the performance gain is worth the premium.

Very Satisfied

GIGABYTE BRIX GB-BXBT-2807 (rev. 1.0) Black Mini-PC Barebone
GIGABYTE BRIX GB-BXBT-2807 (rev. 1.0) Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: The computer is very quiet. The only occasional noise is from the mechanical hard drive installed in it. Using 4gb 1.35v DDR3-1600 G.Skill RAM (albeit at DDR3-1333). Not a total powerhouse, but that's not why it was purchased. Draws on average 7 watts at idle and 10-11 under moderate load as measured by kill-a-watt.

Cons: None I can think of.

Overall Review: The BIOS can be updated via the UEFI shell if you know what you are doing and is not limited to windows only updates. It runs about 60C in roughly a 21C environment. I have this running a dedicated mythbuntu backend using 4 tuners and a 1tb hard drive. So far, so great. Draws very little power for a 24/7 machine and does not have any obnoxious bright LED lights.

Pros: Replaced without question. Ram received by them Monday, received new ram on Friday. Excellent Service

Cons: Not much communication or tracking on their part, but they got it done.

Overall Review: Will definitely continue purchasing G.Skill RAM. This is the first RMA I have had to do on their RAM, and they lived up to their lifetime warranty!

Would highly recommend this item to any tinkerers looking to "build" their own laptop. I've had many "HQ" processors in the past, but being able to utilize a 65w socketed i7 has been a complete game changer. I would definitely buy this product again and have highly recommended this among friends.
