APC BE650G 650 VA 390 Watts 8 Outlets UPS (Replaced by BE650G1)
APC BE650G 650 VA 390 Watts 8 Outlets UPS (Replaced by BE650G1)

Pros: Simple setup. Decent software.

Cons: battery doesn't last as long as I would like but that comes with the price.

Overall Review: I made this purchase to replace a previous APC who's battery had finally bit the dust and I couldn't find a replacement. This UPS does as it is intended. It's kept my NAS, router, lcd, and main system up and alive during the recent storms we've had.

mobo install

GIGABYTE GA-P45T-ES3G LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-P45T-ES3G LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: easy to install

Cons: The NIC port went bad within a week

Overall Review: Attempting to RMA but my package is held up in the mail somewhere. Spoke with Newegg support and they agreed to extend the RMA number issuance but not sure how long that will be. I'm hoping that once they receive it they can look at the mailed date and go ahead and process the swap. Once I have the board/new board back I'll do another review for the system and possibly adjust the rating.

drive failure

Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Fast. Large storage space. Form Factor.

Cons: Died within 3 months. I began to have issues the past few weeks and today the drive died completely. It is accesible for a short time but windows then shuts off access to it. This drive was filled with a LOT of data for work, school, and game saves. Since it is beyond 30 days I don't think newegg is going to give me an RMA for it.

Great board when running

ASUS P8Z77-M LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P8Z77-M LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: 1. fast 2. easy set up 3. BIOS Safety features 4. easy overclocking and BIOS upgrades

Cons: 1. died after last than a month 2. Bad placement of the pcie1x slot. There is NO way you can mount a pci1x card and a full size video card. I have the EVGA GTX570 and the card takes up both slots space wise. A better option would be to place the slot somewhere else on the board and possibly include an extension cable so that the card could still be mounted at the back of the case and connect to the mobo. 3. not enough Chassis Fan headers 4. had to upgrade the BIOS to stop crashes 5. back plate was a little fidgety, it wouldn't line up quite right with the components of the board and those small metal fins had to be bent slightly to let them pass through

Overall Review: This board fit the bill for a microATX build I was switching to. It handles the i7 I put in it very well, no complaints there. No issues with the RAM after figuring out the timings. This board blazes, there is absolutely NO COMPLAINT about it's speed or stability AFTER you upgrade the BIOS. This is a must, as soon as you have the board, upgrade the BIOS and save yourself any headache with RAM timings or cpu compatability. My problem like a few others here is that the board died after amount 3 weeks. I had a BSOD 2 days ago and recovered from that with no issue and then today, 4/8/13, I tried to power the system on and it would not POST. I went through extensive troubleshooting to find out the issue and pinpoint it,e ven though I was fairly certain I already knew it was the board. 1. reseat ram - no effect 2. try known good ram - no effect 3. reset BIOS to defaults via jumper - no effect 4. recover factory BIOS using the onboard flashback function - no effect 5. remove all components (hdd, cdrom, ram, video card, wifi adapter) - no effect 6. remove CPU - no effect 7. tried known working PSU - no effect This thing simply will NOT post. I have already submitted an RMA and will be shipping it back tomorrow, 4/9/13. Once I have the new board and run it through some burn in and torture tests I'll update the review and we'll see if the new one lasts more than 3 weeks. This is my first time venturing into Asus land, I'm normally an EVGA or Gigabyte guy and I hope this is just a fluke and the new board will be flawless. specs: Xigmatek GIGAS Series CCC-MD26TA-U02 Silver Aluminum MicroATX Desktop Computer Case ZALMAN CNPS9500A-LED 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M2 RS620-SPM2E3-US 620W ATX12V V2.3 Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1572-AR GeForce GTX 570 Win7 Ultimate 64bit

WD Scorpio Blue WDBABB2500ANC-NRSN 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 1.5Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Retail kit

Pros: Worked out of the box. No problems with the laptop recognizing the drive. Linux and Win7 installed to it easily.

Cons: none

remote

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250(WinTV-HVR-2255) Media Center Kit Dual TV Tuner w/ IR Remote PCI-E x 1

Pros: Card itself is great. Remote is unpleasant to use.

Cons: The remote is very clunky in it's response times. I don't get why its so slow and half the buttons seem to refuse to work. I'll probably have to get a USB model as another reviewer stated prior to me. The remote should also have come with JUST a receiver cable and not an IR Blaster cable thats six feet long and then an IR Blaster/Receiver combo cable. It would get 5 eggs if not for the clunky remote. Save yourself some money and get the OEM version and just snag the software from the Hauppage site.
