Best motherboard Ive used
Pros: This board is unstoppable! its not how high you can go that limits you its the heat that you have to control to get what you want. The board never fights back in overclocking. Nice features in the networking.
Cons: Make sure to go into the bios and turn on all your fans manually to 100% and cpuvreg to on or else your fan headers will not turn on for case fans. Also built in Lan cards must be installed by themselves from the nforce drivers first before you can install SMBUS and storage drivers from disc or website drivers. If you dont you will get code 12 in windows XP saying not enough resources for built in Lan. Took me 4 hours to figure this out and serveral reformats. EVGA techs didnt know what to do, but they tried to help. Nividia will come out with new patch im sure for this problem.
Overall Review: I chose this board over the Asus Striker for two reasons. The last two times I was an early adopter for ASUS I was burned by them both times for customer support. Not to mention they have altered the nvidia reference design alot and to charge 399 for a motherboard is crazy. EVGA has awesome tech support and lifetime warranty what else do you want?
Not good enough
Pros: Streams HD with N draft Routers very well, Easy network setup and compatibility with Vista Media Center. Great user interface in GUI. Good assortment of connections and ports. Decent Remote.
Cons: The problem with Media extenders in general is not the units themselves but the failure of Media Center inside Vista not being able to play all the different codecs on the market. 60-70% of my stored video files were not compatible with media center because it uses a seperate set of codecs then windows media player. Microsoft really messed up by not letting the windows media player play the videos and not media center software. Without the ability to play all the different codecs you are left with watching tv, a handful of mpg movies, play music files. Upconversion was not good and very grainy. Computer has to be on for you to operate this unit over the network.
Overall Review: I would not buy this until you research all the codecs the windows media center can handle. I returned this unit and will not be buying media extenders based on Vista Media Center software. I am going to test the totally independent MVIX unit which has its own software and storage along with upconversion to HD.
Best Laptop I have ever owned
Pros: Absolutely the best laptop I have ever owned. I have always owned PC products and build gaming PCs as well as bought only heavy duty gaming laptops. I was very scared to switch over to apple but this laptop's build quality is second to none right now. The speed in which it runs windows is better than my other gaming laptop. Video graphics is excellent as well as battery life in power mode. I do a dual operating system boot via Apple's Boot Camp which comes with it, so I can use windows or Mac OS but to tell you the truth I am loving Mac OS its so easy it makes windows look primative. This lap top can handle anything I throw at it, including gaming. You can take the whole laptop apart for repair or upgrade memory etc in 5-10 minutes. I like the modular internal design it makes accessing drives and batteries easy. Works with Iphone and Ipods easier in Mac OS.
Cons: Little pricey but if you look at the build quality of the uni body aluminum case you can understand why it can't be cheap. It needs HDMI and two more USB ports as well as bluray. Make sure you upgrade your ram to 4 gb right away it takes 5 minutes to do and costs only 120 bucks on newegg. Instructions are laser etched on how to take the laptop apart in the battery cover.
Overall Review: I had a tough time deciding between the macbook and macbook pro and I am glad I bought this one. If you are used to gaming on your laptop do not settle for the macbook. This laptop can play Company of Heros and COD4 very well. Its the equivalent to a midrange gaming rig in performance. Its very portable for what it does and the screen quality is better on the MB pro than on the regular macbook. Not only that you have more ports.
Fast and Safe
Pros: Fast and safe what more can you ask for. Put this in my water cooled machine that is overclocked to the hilt and the memory running in windows vista ultimate is flawless.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Great upgrade if you plan to run Vista Ultimate I should have bought two sets. Windows XP will only see 3.2gb. I do a dual system boot config so both benefit from extra ram.
Fast and quiet
Pros: Put one of these babies in my water cooled system to run Windows Vista Ultimate on and it flies. Super quiet and loads games in half. Its faster than the older raptor 150 drive I had. One of the best upgrades you can do for you PC. I would love to take the heat sink off and use it in my laptop but I think it would get to hot. It uses the new 2.5 platter size. SATAII is easy to hook up.
Cons: Pricey but you get what you paid for
Overall Review: No better drive to get to improve speed unless you go scisi
Great laptop memory
Pros: Bought two of these sticks to upgrade my new Macbookpro unibody and they work great. If you are considering any of the new mac laptops this should be an automatic purchase to upgrade to 4 GB ram.
Cons: none
Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and upgrade your laptop to 4 gigs, espeically for apple and enjoy the extra performance.
