APRICORN VEL-SOLO-X2 Extreme Performance SSD Upgrade Kit for Desktop PCs and MacPro
APRICORN VEL-SOLO-X2 Extreme Performance SSD Upgrade Kit for Desktop PCs and MacPro

Pros: this is a update review..this card is still performing great. i have tweaked my bios and have even better read and writes.. sequential read is up to 407 and sequential write is 315. random read is now 41253 and random write is 31678. also as to have i accomplished anything, well windows 7 experience index thinks i have. for it has rated my primary hard disk to 7.9 from 7.7...so i am very happy.

Cons: Looks like newegg has discontinued this product.

Overall Review: you may have to change things in the bios to get full benefits or even for your operating system to recognize it. i failed to state in previous review that i installed this in a PCI Express x16 slot for i had one open. i just use one video card. some say if you use both x16 slots your video card will operate on x8 instead of x16. i sure havnt noticed any difference while gaming but im not a big time gamer.

Great Job

Pros: fast shipping and great product. definitely would do business with them again.

Cons: None

Overall Review: i would recommend buying from this company.

Worked for boot drive

GLOTRENDS PA10-FAN M.2 NVME Adapter Card with Full Covering Aluminum Panel Built-in Fan
GLOTRENDS PA10-FAN M.2 NVME Adapter Card with Full Covering Aluminum Panel Built-in Fan

Pros: got this for an older motherboard and it worked great. i was able to boot with it on a asus M5A97 board using nvme samsung 950. the fan runs quiet after i figured out how to get it to run. my card was defaulted to the rgb lighting off. with my case and where it was located i left it there, thought it might save a little wattage. well from troubleshooting i found out the rgb lighting has to be on for the fan to run. i read the instructions 3 times and there wasnt anything about the rgb lighting much less about it had to be on for the fan to operate. with the fan running my nvme drive ran about 4 to 5 degrees cooler. i really like this card.

Cons: needs to be something in the instructions about the rgb switch has to be on for the fan to operate.

Overall Review: i would recommend this product. i would love to see a 2 pin led hard drive connector on it. may be hard to do with the heat shield on it.

Used for boot device in older motherboard

Rivo PCI-E Riser PCIe M.2 PCIe SSD to PCIe Express 3.0 x4 Adapter Card - Supports M2 NGFF PCI-e 3.0, 2.0 or 1.0, NVMe or AHCI, M-Key, 2280, 2260, 2242, 2230 Solid State Drives

Pros: it wasnt easy but finally got my bios set to were it would boot from this card. i tried many settings, enable, disable, and etc. this was on a vintage board ( asus P5B premium vista board ). i just wanted to see if it could be done. didnt do any mods to the bios per really dont know how. my numbers are not what the drive is rated for obviously restricted from the motherboard. but my numbers did improve. numbers from 860 evo read and write sequential 283 & 273 read and write random iops 37109 & 32470. numbers from pci-e card with 950 pro installed read and write sequential 863 & 710 read and write random iops 103027 & 86669. these numbers came from samsungs tool. i am also using samsungs nvme driver instead of windows 10 native driver. probably couldnt have pulled this off with any other nvme drive. the samsung 950 has a legacy rom bios on board. this was a fresh windows install, almost gave up on it when i couldnt even install windows 10. but finally did something right in the bios and it found it and loaded it. i did have trouble with it booting after i shut it down and plugged in my storage drive. so i shut it back down and plugged storage device in different color sata port and it has worked great ever since. i havent had any trouble restarting or starting up from complete shutdown for several days now.

Cons: none, did more than i expected.

Overall Review: i just like to tinker on things, i think its fun. this card did the job. it was simple to install nvme on it after watching the video on newegg website.

Yes worked for boot drive

M.2 NVMe to PCIE 5.0 4x 8x 16x Adapter Card, For M Key 2230 2242 2260 2280 mm Size PCIe M.2 SSD Full Speed

Pros: i didnt know if i could use this for a boot drive on an older motherboard (asus M5A97 R2.0). but it booted up the first time. obviously my numbers are restricted per 2.0 and not 3.0 on the older board, but i did get better numbers. these were my numbers on 860 evo/ read and write sequential 549 & 503 read & write random iops 33691 & 31250. these are the numbers after pci-e card with samsung 950 pro installed. read and write sequential 1421 & 1339 read and write random iops 111816 & 95214. these numbers came from samusng tool. i imaged my 860 evo to 950 pro with samsung tool without no problems. also i am using samsung nvme driver instead of windows 10 native driver. dont know if it would have worked with any other nvme drive per the 950 pro has a legacy boot rom.

Cons: None

Overall Review: it was easy to install. works great, and i would buy it again for an older motherboard.

Samsung SSD's are great drives

SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gb/s 1x nm Samsung Toggle DDR 2.0 3-Bit MLC NAND Flash Memory (400Mbps) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gb/s 1x nm Samsung Toggle DDR 2.0 3-Bit MLC NAND Flash Memory (400Mbps) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: these drives do perform great with amd boards..i have a 240 evo and 256 840pro using asus M5A97 R2.0 boards. never have had an issue. i have been using the pro for over a year now. sequential read 1332 / sequential write 1118 / random read (IOPS) 66134 / random write (IOPS) 41257.. this is with rapid mode enabled obviously. now you probably can get better results with intel board but these numbers are just fine with me.

Cons: none what so ever!!

Overall Review: just updated my 840 pro today with the new firmware out this week. to the ones who have trouble updating firmware, this is what i have to do for the pro and evo..i use amd sata controller because i have tested tested and tested with better numbers..but cant update firmware using amd controller..just go in device manager, switch your controller driver back to windows standard AHCI 1.0 serial ATA controller, reboot..most of you should be able to update firmware after that..and after that i switch back to amd sata controller..
