I have the power!

Antec EarthWatts EA750 750W Continuous Power ATX12V version 2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC "compatible with Core i7/Core i5" Power Supply
Antec EarthWatts EA750 750W Continuous Power ATX12V version 2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC "compatible with Core i7/Core i5" Power Supply

Pros: I've had this for half a year. I have to say, I am very impressed. I add components to my computer every now and again and this PSU has been able to handle it all, both in terms of power and cables. right now it is powering -2 dvd drives -2 hard drives -3 case fans -video card Absolutely no trouble with wiring or power.

Cons: none

Overall Review: It's not totally modular. There are some cables that are always there, and there are some extra six pin molex you can add. No big deal, most people will make good use of the cables already there. You can always tie up extra cables. If this bothers you, your problem is probably with your case not the PSU.

CPU too close to RAM

BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Cheap Easy setup Lots of BIOS options for overclocking.

Cons: There is NO space between the CPU socket and RAM. If you want to install an aftermarket CPU fan, you will only be able to use two RAM slots. Look at the pictures and consider this if you plan to overclock.

bought a 2nd one!

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible

Pros: Great cooling. Quiet. I have this in two computers, both on AMD. The AMD installation is easy if you're familiar with the AMD clips at all.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: I installed this in a Cosmos S full tower and an Antec 300 mid tower. THIS THING IS BIG In Cosmos S, I had to remove the side fan. The antec 300 install was a little difficult because you don't have much room to fit your hand in and lock the heatsink in. Still, it's totally possible to install without removing the motherboard in both cases. If you're worried about this clearance above your RAM, don't. I use all four slots in both computers. The Heatsink is maybe 1.5 mm above my RAM (even with heat spreaders).

stable connection in linux

ASUS PCE-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express 150/300Mbps Transfer/Receive Rate 64-bit/128-bit WEP, TKIP, and AES WI-Fi alliance WPA, WPA2

Pros: Provides a much more stable connection than I was getting with my USB wireless adapter. I think all dropped connections i get now are due to that stupid mac airport router my roomate uses.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: Worked in Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 out of the box.

thermal grease!

XIGMATEK PTI-G3606 thermal grease
XIGMATEK PTI-G3606 thermal grease

Pros: Good consistency. The spreader it comes with lets you spread the perfect thin layer on your CPU. So far I've been idling at around 20C, maxing out at 30.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: This was free with the HDT-S1283 heat sink.
