D-Link DIR890L wireless router
Pros: Tri-band USB 2.0 and 3.0 port Telephone tech support was prompt
Cons: Poor documentation (even the full manual available from the mfr's website is lacking in detail) No MAC filtering Cannot disable WPS
Overall Review: At about $300, this is a high-end router, at least as home products go. While it does deliver good throughput and has some nice features (such as the USB ports, with the ability to connect an external drive for some basic online storage capacity), I was dismayed to learn that it does not support two very basic functionalities that are almost universal in even low-end wireless routers: MAC address filtering and disabling WPS. (I had to call Dlink opening Case # CC737809, to learn these things). Yes, I do realize that it's relatively trivial to spoof MAC address filtering; but if a $70 wireless router bought from a local store allows MAC filtering, it strikes me as simply incredible that a high-end device like the DIR-890L does not. As to WPS - there are known vulnerabilities in WPS, and once again many wireless routers - including many low-end devices - permit the owner to disable this feature altogether. I would not have purchased this particular device had I been aware of the lack of two such basic features. As it stands, I will keep the router and use it - as stated, it does offer pretty good performance - but my advice to other buyers is to keep looking.
