Ryzen 5-3600X...great value.

AMD Ryzen 5 3rd Gen - RYZEN 5 3600X Matisse (Zen 2) 6-Core 3.8 GHz (4.4 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 95W 100-100000022BOX Desktop Processor
AMD Ryzen 5 3rd Gen - RYZEN 5 3600X Matisse (Zen 2) 6-Core 3.8 GHz (4.4 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 95W 100-100000022BOX Desktop Processor

Cons: I wish AMD had given the option to purchase the CPU with or without the cooler. While the stock cooler is said to work well for non-overclocked systems, most 'gamers' will opt for something a bit more robust. We just do. The price savings could potentially go toward such a cooler for those who desire the option. The motherboard manufacturer's BIOS support seems to have been caught off guard. That is not a fault of the chip...obviously. It is just something to be aware of when purchasing. I'm sure over time this will be sorted but as of now, you'll need to do a bit of homework.

Overall Review: This processor replaced my Ryzen 5-2600X...which in of itself, is a great performing CPU. I can't say enough good things about the added 'up-tick' in performance. My simulation software loads faster and runs very well. The time it takes to come out of low power state is drastically reduced as well. It is a great all-round CPU. I do a fair bit of Handbrake video transcoding of gameplay footage. It 'chews' through those....hence the 'all-round' classification.

LAUNCH CRP129 ?????l

Launch Tech CRP129 Pro-Code OBDII Scan Diagnostic Tool
Launch Tech CRP129 Pro-Code OBDII Scan Diagnostic Tool

Pros: Got some support to update it. Seems to work although I haven't used it on a car yet.

Cons: It took way too long from order to receipt. It was ordered on 09-24-2014 and arrived on 10-11-2014. USPS tracking number was useless sent on day after order and did not work until night before delivery and nobody could tell me where the package was ...even after four calls to Newegg. This was my absolute worst experience purchasing from this site. Purchased this product on the basis of great sales and service previously. Unit has a questionable history. Not sure if it's just a legit Launch for another market...or fully counterfeit. Unit not officially supported in the North American market

Quirky GPU with loads of untapped potential

Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition 16GB PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card 21P01J00BA
Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition 16GB PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card 21P01J00BA

Pros: My card is extremely stable in all titles I play to date. I have not had a single crash or freeze. One out of seven titles, did not launch initially. That was fixed after the release of the 4090 driver. The card also does quite well in WMR with my Reverb G2 when using Open Composite. It does not have the outright highest framerate against it's direct competitors but more than makes up for that in overall smoothness. I especially love that big 16GB VRAM buffer. It allows me to load most games at max settings. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the card's performance once up and running.

Cons: My particular card will NOT allow installation of the driver from the Intel .exe file. I instead, have to download the .zip driver file...extract it and then update by going into the display adapter entry in the Device Manager and manually pointing to the driver. It has done that for every single driver since I first bought it in late December. It isn't too big of a deal for me because I can dictate what I want to install. I could see where it would cause a headache and deter a beginner. I personally never install the ARC Control or the RGB app. It has nothing to offer at this stage.

Overall Review: It initially was...and still somewhat is a card for computer enthusiast who like to tinker. It has come a long way and is getting better with each driver release.

Oculus journey

Oculus Rift VR Headset
Oculus Rift VR Headset

Pros: It's a good Product at the sale price. The immersion level cannot be reached by any other form of computer component at this stage. It's easy to setup and get going with mostly clear online instructions. The addition of two additional USB cards for sensors seems to have stave off the disconnects sme folks are complaining about.

Cons: Screen resolution is still a bit on the low side compared to regular monitors. The Oculus software is just a bit too vague with regard to exiting gameplay. I was in an online demo just yesterday, and I kept hearing the question "How do I exit the game?". The interface once setup, needs to be better documented. I used two additional USB 2.0 cards to gain the sheer amount you need to get things setup...(not really a negative).

Overall Review: I think given the price reduction, if you are 'on-the-fence' it's not a bad move. I use mine for mostly racing titles and the first time you go through Au Rouge in an open wheel car, you get what I'm referring to. Is it as clear as a monitor? ....No, but you can't experience the level of realism or elevation change on that flat panel either. Looking around the cockpit of modeled cars, you get to really appreciate the detail development studios put into their work. There is just so much you cannot see on just a monitor alone.

Unusable ADATA SSD SP550 model due to OS transfer software listing glitch.

ADATA Premier SP550 2.5" 480GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) ASP550SS3-480GM-C

Pros: None yet.

Cons: ADATA need to get it together as far as the "free" Acronis offer is concerned. Three days after receiving my drive and going through the whole registration process, it is still sitting on my desk. The only two Acronis downloads on their site are both incompatible. One is Acronis True Image 2012 while the key sent is for Acronis 2013. The other download of ATI2013 states that the drive MUST have an ATI HD2013 key on the label of the unit....mine purchased from NE clearly does not. Lots of purchasers with the same issue. How the heck difficult can this be...sort it out guys.

Overall Review: At this point I can't honestly recommend this since it is not yet installed.

GTX970

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE 3X OC EDITION, GV-N970WF3OC-4GD

Pros: Like the cooling setup. It's keeping the GPU temps at 60 degrees max with GPU load at 99 percent and playing everything okay so far.

Cons: I cannot get it to boot or send a video signal to the monitor with PCI-e GEN3 enabled in the motherboard BIOS. The previous PNY GTX-670 ran that setting fine with the PCI-e timing hack to enable 3.0..

Overall Review: Hopefully, Gigabyte has a fix to enable PCI-e 3.0 on my X79 motherboard. I gained quite a bit of performance with that hack.
