Pantum PB-211 Toner Cartridge - Black
Pantum PB-211 Toner Cartridge - Black

Pros: - Works as intended

Cons: - Had some trouble installing the cartridge. See notes below for how I fixed it.

Overall Review: I have a P2502W whose starter cartridge ran out after a couple of years of great service (I print infrequently). Given the steallar service this 25$ piece of equipment gave me, I decided to pay down the full retail amount on a PB-211 toner cartridge. After I got it, I followed the IKEA-type instructions on the packing box to install it. However, to my dread, I found the second LED light glowing a stable orange. According to the manual, this means "Cartridge error (not installed, mismatch, expired)". I removed the cartridge and inserted it back again multiple times with no success. Then, I took a soft cloth and wiped the cartridge chip - the four golden squares on the side. I also wiped the chip contacts which are 4 projects inside the printer which touch the 4 golden squares once the cartridge is inserted. And then I re-inserted the cartridge into the printer. And voila, the printer detected it. I pressed the Cancel/Continue button for a few seconds and it printed out 3 papers with status info. The second page contains how much toner is remaining (it showed 100% for the new one ... it had shown 8% for the old one before I replaced it). Generally the review should be given after using the cartridge for some time (if not until it runs out). But I will give the benefit of dout and give 5 stars. If the new cartridge acts funny in the future, I might come and reduce some stars.

Drains batteries

Roku 4 Streaming Media Player 4K UHD (4400R) Refurbished
Roku 4 Streaming Media Player 4K UHD (4400R) Refurbished

Pros: - The highest model of the last generation => has all the bells and whistles like remote finder, earphones, etc - Has ethernet port

Cons: - This refurbished product has an issue where-in it consumes batteries fast; need to change every 2 days (no exaggeration)

Overall Review: I have a 1080p TV and I wanted to buy a Roku with Ethernet port since I don't trust wifi stability. I was happy to find the highest trim of Roku 4 at a very nice price which contained all the features I wanted. I didn't care that it was refurbished. While the unit itself works fine, the remote has a major problem. It drains batteries fast. The first time the batteries drained, I thought that the batteries that come with the product were cheap quality or low capacity (kind of like the starter cartridges you get with printers). But the new pair of batteries I replaced it with drained in 2 days as well and I got suspicious. I checked online and I found that Roku remotes can exhibit this problem. I thought I would give it one last try and inserted a 3rd pair of new batteries. They predictably drained in 2 days and that was it; I have the return package in my hand and am planning to drop it off at the nearby UPS store. This is so sad; I was so looking forward to enjoying my Roku.

So far so good

Pantum P2502W 1200 x 1200 DPI Wireless / USB Monochrome Laser Printer
Pantum P2502W 1200 x 1200 DPI Wireless / USB Monochrome Laser Printer

Pros: 1) Price (25$, come on!) 2) *Laser* printer 3) Small footprint

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: I print rarely, like once in a month or two. I got sick and tired of my HP inkjet printer which "ran out" of ink every few months. Which means I was paying around 50 bucks for less than 10 prints (given my print frequency). Someone told me that laser printers don't have this problem, that they will not "dry up" like that. I am skeptical but have decided to check the theory by purchasing a cheap laser printer. I am writing this review after just having set up my Pantum P2502W laser printer for wireless use from my Windows 8.1 as well as my other Mac OS X (Yosemite, 10.10.5) laptop. There was a scare at the beginning of the setup (after I unpacked and installed the toner cartridge) as the second LED light (with the exclamation-inside-a-triangle icon) was showing a stable orange which the manual said was "Cartridge error (not installed, mismatch, expired)". One of the Pantum representatives replied in a different customer's complaint (http://www.newegg.com/Product/SingleProductReview.aspx?ReviewID=4262924) that cleaning the toner chip (it is on the right side of the toner and has 3 or 4 golden squares in a row) with a soft cloth should fix the problem. That did the trick for me too. As for the wifi setup, I followed the excellent but somewhat technically involved instructions at another online retailer's website (search for "Good printer with difficult setup" by Ray Z dated Aug 19, 2015). I was able to get both my Windows 8.1 and Mac OS X printers printing via Wifi. The print quality seems great. Note that I have used this printer for all of 1 day. I don't know how long it will last. So, my 5 stars is for the initial impressions.
